I found myself standing alone in a sky. Water flowed below me as clear as a refined jewel. Through it I could see clouds lazily drifting to somewhere unknown. Above me, stars shone brightly, their celestial dance mesmerizing me. It was as if I was at a medium between night and day, the sun and moon parallel of each other.
It's beautiful...
I saw a man standing a short distance away as I drew my gaze forward. He looked like a beastial race. His ears were tall. His body was covered in fur that was an ethereal white. Around him an aura of light seemed to shine.
"Dude, do you know where we're at?"
I saw an ear twitch. He turned around. His eyes were a galaxy glimmering with knowledge. His body was lean and toned. I was kind of jealous. I also felt as if I had spent way too much time examining him. It couldn't be helped though. He wore nothing but a simple loincloth.
The fox's face filled with delight, "Randal?"
"Um... You know me?"
He smiled, "I suppose I look different from what you can remember. Come next to me. I have much to discuss with you. But first we must wait for the others."
"Yeah. I'm good. I'll just stay here. I don't know who you are."
I saw a slight hint of pain in his eyes, "But of course you do. Look into my eyes, you'll see it."
I did as he said. I stared straight into his eyes. Even squinted and clamped my teeth. He seemed familiar but I was still certain that I had no idea who he was.
I shook my head, "Yeah... I see nothing..."
"It's me, Kalvin."
"Um... excuse you? Who the hell do you think you are? Claiming to be something you're not. This has to be a dream. I," my voice cracked, "I watched him die. I felt his pain. You're not him! You can't be!"
"I am, Ran. It's me."
"No. It isn't! It... it can't be," a felt something tug on my heart, some sort of feeling that wanted to believe what he was saying. Do you know what I have been through the last few days? I've been fucking beat! Drained of my blood! Stabbed by a crazy woman! The list goes on."
It hit me then. I gave a maniacal laugh. "I know your game by now, Vincent. Using Kalvin against me! That's fucking low," I shouted, "That's really low! I swear I'll kill you!"
The fox seemed taken aback for a moment, "What are you talking about?"
"You're gonna play dumb now! Screw you!"
I was mad. I was hurt. I was confused. I was frustrated.
Who the hell does this Vincent guy thinks he is! I swear...
The water beneath me started moving back-and-forth in aggravated waves.
"Ran... Your magic... it's..."
"Scared? You should be," I harnessed my magical energy, "Like a hurricane I'll strike you from this plane!"
The water waved back and forth following the motions I made with my arms. I felt it's power with my magic. I willed it to gather into a wave that I shot toward the imposter.
"If this is what it'll take for you to believe me, so be it," the wave collided with the fox. He desperately tried to stay afloat.
Imagining there was a half of a ball in each of my hands I hovered one above the other, "The waves seek air to be whole."
The wave changed its shape. It became a sphere that spiraled continuously, hovering off the ground. The fox didn't do anything. He just adjusted himself so he sat there, legs crossed, staring at me.
