I sniffled, wiping the blood from my nose as I ran. I could hear the yells behind me, but there was no way I was going to let him get me again. Not today.
Hopping on my skateboard, I pushed it off and it went rolling down the street. Thank god I lived at the top of a slope.
The yells were fading and soon all I could hear was the rolling of my wheels below me. I stopped at the bottom, and stamped on the edge of my skateboard, so it flipped up into my arm. Wincing slightly as it awoke my bruises, I started to walk, a stabbing pain every time I took a breath. Brilliant, broken ribs! Just what I needed for running away.
Cursing my step-father under my breath with every swear word I knew, and trust me, I knew a lot, I walked off.
Unfortunately, due to being trafficked round so many times I'd lost count, and me never being allowed out, I had no god dam idea where I was. Looking round, I bit my lip, pondering.
I had no family. Just an annoying little stepbrother who drove me up the wall and my "stepfather". My mother died suddenly when I was seven, my father died before I was born, and I only vaguely recall an older brother. Sugar lumps.
Chewing a loose piece of skin on my thumb, I tore it off, watching as the blood rushed out. Aw man.
I threw my skateboard down, got on it, and started to push it off, and I zoomed through the empty silent streets. As I cornered, grabbing onto a lamppost to steer myself, I crashed into someone.
'Hey, watch where you're going!' The person growled.
'Sorry! Jeez...' I grumbled, picking myself up, gasping slightly at the pain in my chest.
'You okay?' he asked and I finally looked into his face, and gasped.
'Oh my cheese and crumpets! You're Jayy! Jayy Von Monroe!' I almost screamed with joy, but he clapped a hand over my mouth.
'And you're a fan.' He said, with a cocky smile. 'And injured.'
I looked down at myself, and grimaced.
'Only a little.'
'Nope, you're more than that.' He looked serious. 'Haven't you been to the hospital?'
I snorted. 'What, and get sent back to that hell-hole? No cheers.'
Instantly, I clapped my own hand over my mouth. Jayy looked intrigued.
'What do you mean?' he asked, more softer.
'Don't matter.' I tried to brush it off.
'Well, then let us get to the hospital.' He said calmly.
'No way!' I said, putting my foot on my skateboard, in case I needed to make a quick getaway. He may be my idol, but I wasn't going just because he was going to take me.
'No, you need to go.' He took a step closer.
That was it. I pushed off and set off. I could hear him running behind me, and I pushed harder. That was, until my wheel got a stone in and locked, sending me flying off, again. For the love of god. Not that there was one in my opinion anyway. If there was, why the hell does he hate me so?
