That night, I lay in my bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. I didn't want to sleep. Sleep meant I was vulnerable to the nightmares. Sleep meant that I could still wake up, back in that cellar, cold and sticky, this entire thing being a dream. I didn't want to deal with that. I didn't want to be alone.
Sitting up, I swung my legs out of bed, moving out my bedroom, looking between the door to my left and the stairs to my right. One held Jayy and James, and down the stairs, I knew the Brides had crashed for the night. Biting my lip softly, I pondered who's comfort I wanted tonight. Part of me was telling me to go to my brother – he would understand, he was my brother. The other half was telling me, however, to go downstairs to see Ashley, who would be more than happy to comfort me tonight.
But I didn't want to have a nightmare, and Ashley to see how weak I was...
Sighing, I turned left, gently pushing Jayy's bedroom door open, peeking in. I could see them, James with his face nuzzled in my brothers neck, and my brother with his arms wrapped round James. I couldn't break that up.
I exhaled slowly, before baking out and shutting the door quietly. Looks like I was seeing Ashley.
Creeping down the stairs, I looked between the railings, trying to locate my boyfriend. I spotted him, stretched out on the leather sofa, a blue fleecy blanket covering him. Moving into the room, I tiptoed past Andy, padded round Jake and Jinxx, and darted behind CC, before carefully shaking Ashley.
"Huh? What the - Roxie?" he blearily opened one eye to look at me, "what are you doing up?"
"I-I couldn't sleep, and I didn't want to be on my own..." I mumbled, feeling like an idiot.
Ashley, however, didn't seem to share the same thought.
"Alright, baby, c'mere..."
I climbed on the sofa next to him, and he turned us, so I was pressed between him and the back of the sofa. Draping the fleece over us both, he wrapped me up in his arms, and I burrowed my face in the crook of his throat, feeling him kiss the top of my head.
"Don't worry now, baby bat, I'm here, I got you. It's all ok now." He whispered.
I gave a smile, before letting sleep take me.
"Coffee?"
"Cheers. Anyone know what time Roxie came and joined Ashley last night?"
"It was about half one in the morning. I was awake. Something about not wanting to be alone...?"
"Can't blame her. Why didn't see go see Jayy?"
"Didn't want to walk in on him and James doing something and scare herself for life, maybe?"
"Sounds reasonable."
I gave a small yawn at this point, my head resting upon someone's shoulder. A chuckle was heard, the chest I was lying on vibrating under me.
"Ash, stop laughing at your girlfriend when she's asleep. We all know you're awake."
"Aww, take all the fun out of it, why don't you?"
"Yup." I opened my eyes at this point, looking into his grinning face.
"Morning, baby girl." He whispered, giving me a kiss.
"Morning, Ash-Bash." I laughed.
We rolled off the sofa, and made our way into the kitchen, where Andy was making the coffee.
"Roxie, what do you take?" he called.
"Black, two sugars." I replied, taking a seat between Ashley and Jake.
