"And that's the story of me and your mom.", my father, Aaron West, said while wiping a tear from his right eye,"We decided we'll get married and have a happy life with you, Aara, but after blessing me with you, Rachel left me forever."
"Dad!", I whispered and held his hand,"I love you, dad."
"I love you too, baby. And your mother loved you too.", he kissed my palm.
"I know."
"And even though we never got married, my life's greatest achievement is that she at least agreed to marry me.", dad said while looking at the frame kept on the table. It had a smiling picture of mom.
Without saying anything, I hugged my father and he hugged me back.
"Sir, the car is ready.", a maid interrupted our moment.
Sighing, we pulled back and I wiped the tears from my face.
"So, honey, first day of college. Excited?", Dad asked straightening his suit.
"Damn yes.", I chirped.
"I'm asking again, do you want me to drop you off?", he said seriously.
"Oh God, no dad. I'm eighteen. I can take care of myself.", I said irritatingly while grabbing my phone and bag.
"Of course, you've got your mother's genes, independent and confident always.", he murmured.
Laughing, I took his hand and we made our way out of the house. Two cars were standing at the doorway, one to take dad to the office and the other to take me college.
"Take care, honey.", Dad kissed my forhead and made his way towards his car.
I also hurriedly got inside my car and greeted my driver of the past seven years,"Morning, George."
"Morning, Ms West."
"Ugh, how many times have I told you to call me Aara. I'm eighteen, not eighty."
George is almost twenty years elder than me still he calls me Ms West.
He just smiled in response.
I just shook my head at him and looked outside the window.
It's been eighteen years since my mom died but my dad still loves her the same. Never he thought about getting married to someone else. Everytime someone asks him the reason, he always replies,"Just because Rachel is not here physically doesn't mean she's not with me."
I just love the way my parents were so in love. Even my Aara, is kept after my parents, Aa from Aaron and Ra from Rachel.
After mom, it's just me and my dad. Dad busied himself in work. The ownership of mom's company, Watson Enterprise, automatically came to me. But for the past eighteen years, it's been managed by Uncle Zack and my dad.
It'll take me almost five years more to get a degree of masters in business and take control of the company.
But even though, dad has been busy in handling two businesses, he never ignored me. He always managed to get time for me. Just as he promised to mom, he has given me a love filled life.
"Ms West, we're here.", George broke my chain of thoughts.
I decided to ignore his way of addressing me and opened the car door.
And here my life at New York University begins, I thought while standing in front of the university building.
Smiling, I started taking steps forward remembering my mom when suddenly I tripped on something and lost my balance.
I closed my eyes suddenly and prepared myself to touch the ground painfully but it never came, instead a felt two arms wrapped around my waist.
Carefully opening my eyes, I found myself looking into the most beautiful pair of green eyes I've ever seen. I wanted to move my body but it was impossible to look away from his eyes.
Slowly, the guy pulled me up straight and moved his lips to speak,"Are you okay?"
I wanted to speak but I couldn't. I was too lost in his eyes.
My first day at college couldn't be better!
