*Pov* Violet
Crofton leaned against the locker next to Lin's. Lin was frantically talking about another case as Ryanne and the twins nodded along. I dialed my combination into my locker, opening it and pulling out a few of my books that I would need later that night.
"NEW GHOST!" Lin shouted. "This one drowned in a pool and a teacher was involved, but he doesn't go here anymore."
"Hey, maybe we shouldn't shout about that in the middle of the hallway," I said, poking Lin. "People are going to think we're crazy."
"People already think that." Lin grumbled. "There's evidence in the pool, lets go!" I sighed a bit, but ran after her and the rest of the group. Crofton stood at the edge of the pool, staring into it. Lin glanced at him, glaring at him.
"Don't be a baby and swim! You're the captain of the swim team for a reason, right?" Lin glared at him.
"I dunno Lin. That's like, the deepest part of the pool," I said, looking down at it. "It'd be real dangerous to go all the way down. No idea why they even made it that deep. It's a serious safety hazard."
"If anyone can do it, it's Crofty." Ryanne shrugged, leaning against the wall.
"... Alright." I crossed my arms. "But, I want to tie the rope from the life saver around his ankle or chest or something. Then we can pull him out if something goes wrong."
"It's a waste of time." Crofton said quietly. "I'll do it."
"YAY!" Lin shouted with joy.
"But you guys won't tell anyone this." Crofton took of his pants and boxers, before jumping in. A blinding white light shone in his place and settled down. Crofton waved a giant shark's tail in the water. I raised both eyebrows in surprise.
"That's new," I said.
"I'm sorry I never told anyone." Crofton looked down. "It's strange, isn't it?"
"Stranger than following ghosts around, settling their deaths, and using the bits of information we get from them to slowly piece together what happened to Andy?" I smirked. "I think not."
"It's weird, I can't believe you guys hang out with me." Crofton covered his face.
"Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddddd?" Amora asked, landing next to the group. "Sorry I'm late, I just got your text, V." Crofton frowned, then went swimming down. Lin rushed over to the basement door, grinning.
"LET'S GO SEE!" I jogged after Lin, Amora close behind me. I nearly ran into Terence when he came in through the back door, but our mutual curiosity resulted in no hard feelings between us.
"Terence you missed the coolest thing!" Jade shouted as he slid down the railing of the steps.
"What do you mean?" he called back as he ran down the steps.
"Crofton~" Jade laughed as he ran from the stairs. Terence glanced back at me, but I waved at him to keep going. He shrugged, but listened to me and kept going. Once they got to the window, Crofton swam by going deeper into the dark waters.
"... That's new," Terence said.
"That's exactly what I said," I replied.
"...................................................... Weird." Terence gave me a look.
"He's a merman." Lin grinned as Crofton suddenly appeared in the window. Waving a plastic bag in his hand. It had a used condom, elastic ties, and a plastic bag.
"How stupid are the criminals in our town?" I asked. "They dump stuff in the middle of plain fucking sight."
"Maybe this one's gonna be harder..." Lin sighed.
