Lin had gotten little sleep last night, she seemed exhausted. Crofton had slept over at her house, he was still upset over Violet, sniffling and sobbing as Jade entered the home. Lin screamed as she felt an overload of files from other ghosts. Jae knocked on her door, Lin gasped as she had felt pain in her head.
"Are you okay?" Jae asked.
"No!" Lin cried. "We need to solve these cases soon. My head is hurting!"
"We can split up into teams." Duke had come in, smiling.
"So we can take file one," Jade hummed, "Crofty and I."
"Duke and Ryanne can take file two." Jae nodded.
"What about-"
"Amora, Violet and Terence can take file three."
"We can take file four." Jae petted Lin's head. Duke walked over to the Davinas' with a file in hand, he knocked on the door. Glancing back at Lin's house, nervous as the cars slowly left her driveway. Terence answered the door.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Files for a case." Duke handed over a file. "What has happened to your group?" He asked.
"What do you mean?" he asked, taking the file and fingering through it. "Last I checked, Amora and I have been to the sidelines, and you've been kind of dragging Violet through the mud while she's under the stress of both finding justice for one of her best friends, and the whole Crofton situation."
"You think that I don't care much about this?" Duke glanced at him. "You guys have more to worry about than problems with Violet and Crofton. Try to remember that the next time you come talking to me about problems." He paused. "Ghosts have more time to wait, but they need justice too, and you're never going to find Andy at this point if all your group does is bark and bite each other."
"You're the ones who came over and insulted her in the first place." He shrugged. "So, sorry for putting my family first." He then closed the door and walked away.
"How about you start caring more about family and more about what you're putting out there." Duke muttered before leaving. After a while of case solving, they ended up closing a few more cases. Lin was sitting on her roof, alone with no one but herself. Everyone else had either left or gone to bed.
"What is happening?" She whispered and Crofton sat down next to her.
"I don't know, Lin." Crofton leaned on her.
"Can we fix this?" Lin asked, tears falling down her face. Crofton shrugged, pulling her into his arms. He rubbed her back as she cried into him, looking up at the stars.
"I don't think we can fix it but we could try to get over it. Violet doesn't have a right to push me around with no feelings, but she has a right to be mad. Terence can be mad all he wants but deep down we know he wants the same thing. Duke and Ryanne have a lot of issues but at least they are getting things done to work it out. We can't fix these problems on our own Linny, we must do our best to pull through this." Crofton rubbed his head on hers.
"But you-"
"Ran. I know. I can't say it didn't help me, either. It did. I realized that danger is going to be with us, but we have to push our way to get justice. I'm scared I'll lose everything, Linny. I'm scared that I will lose Violet, you and the rest. But we need to help those who can't speak up." Crofton nudged her chin with his hand.
"I think we can fix this with help." Lin nodded. Suddenly, there was a loud bang. It sounded like someone was messing with a homemade firework. It would've been easy to dismiss it as that, had it not been for the three police cars and the ambulance that raced down the street. The pulled around the corner and parked in front of the Davina household. Then, it was clear what the noise had actually been.
