Overcoming the Darkness (Series 2)

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

IT was three days after that conversation when they finally received a report from the Collins that there will be another major attack in the Rose Town.

They immediately get everyone ready. Surprisingly, Zafrix told them that Bill is not coming and will stay in the castle to protect it. The werewolves are both confused and suspicious at the same time but didn't dare question the king.

Pagkarating nila sa Rose Town ay nagsisimula na ang pag-atake. It's worse than they had thought. The humans fell helpless, unable to defend themselves. As far as they could see, almost a quarter of the ordinary human population have been killed and being turned into a vampire already. Ang masaklap pa ay inaatake na rin ng mga ito ang mga kapwa nila.

"Oh, no..."

Cyan froze from where she was standing. She couldn't move her legs as she watch horrified at the scene before her. It's just like the war almost twenty-two years ago. Tila nauulit na naman ang lahat ng mga pangyayari.

"Spread out!" Zafrix ordered his men loudly.

His men immediately shifted to their wolf form and run towards seven different directions as to where they are assigned. While another group are tasked to help the ordinary humans and bring them to safely. Cyan and Lawrence fought alongside him, also to make sure that Cyan will never lost control like last time.

"But where the hell are the hunters?" naguguluhang tanong ni Elyssa na palinga-linga sa paligid.

Cyan is also conpletely puzzled. Inaasahan nila na pinoprotekhan nga ng mga hunters ang lugar na ito. O baka ay hindi na lumabas ang mga ito nang malamang paparating sila.

She swallowed hard, getting ready to fight. Kahit saan madako ang paningin niya ay laganap na ang bawat madugong pag-atake. She thought that she will be able to get used of the violence after everything she went through. But this... this is just too much to take in. She thought Lyndon and Evan Chua are the worse, but Vein Ruiz is much worst.

She winced when she heard the bloodcurdling screams coming from different directions. She could smell the fresh blood of humans being brutally killed by vampires. She forced her legs to move and help the nearest human girl being cornered by three vampires. Abala nang nakikipaglaban ang mga kasama niya. She needs to do her part.

It is just like that time; the violence, the murders, the deaths.

Tumakbo siya papalapit sa tatlong bampira at walang hirap na kinalaban ang mga ito. Her hands are still shaking, though. She could feel the familiar undescribable wrath that she had felt before, the same coldness that wants to engulf her.

"H-H'wag mo 'kong s-saktan... p-parang a-awa mo na."

Natigilan siya sa narinig na daing. Ibinalik niya ang tingin sa babae na nakaupo sa maruming konkreto at nakayakap sa mga tuhod habang umiiyak na nakatingin sa kaniya. Her whole body is shaking in fright. Marumi na rin ang suot nitong blusa at pantalon.

"I-It's okay," she said, trying to sound kind so she wouldn't frighten the girl.

"Come with us," she heard a voice spoke from behind. Nilingon niya ang nagsalita at nakita sina Elyssa at Gabriel na silang isa sa mga naka-assign sa pagtitipon sa mga ordinaryong tao para mailayo sila roon at maidala sa mas ligtas na lugar.

"Are you okay?" tanong sa kaniya ni Lawrence na siya palang nakalapit na rin.

Tumango siya habang pinapanood ang pag-alis nila Elyssa kasama ang babae.

"Are you sure?" Paninigurado pa nito.

"I'm fine. Let's go."

Wala sa sariling inihakbang niyang muli ang mga paa patungo sa nangyayaring labanan. Panay naman ang sulyap sa kaniya ni Lawrence na sinisiguradong ayos lang siya.
