Zion's POV
I glanced at my phone offhandedly, wondering why I still hadn't heard from Mea or Tawny to let me know they had made it home safely. Deciding that enough time had passed to have gotten some type of update I drug my finger across the screen, and was just about to hit the keypad to start dialing when it rang.
The number that flashed across the screen was Tink's. I was surprised as I knew he had gone out on a supply run, having stopped in to ask me if there was anything I needed before he left. I absently answered still wondering why I hadn't heard anything from the girls.
My heart stopped the second I heard Tink say he was at the hospital with Tawny and Mea was missing. I barely registered that he was telling me details about how Tawny had been brought in by a good Samaritan that found her knocked out in the street or that there had been no trace of Mea.
He continued talking as I slammed out of my office and tore off for my bike, heading for the hospital as fast as I could get there. Tink assured me that as soon as Tawny was back from her MRI he would get the full story of what had happened but I couldn't wait, I told him I would be there in a few and hung up the phone.
I didn't take the time to do more than set my helmet on my head before I had revved my bike up and tore out of the compound like the hounds of hell were chasing me. The dread was mounting, clutching at my throat and preventing the strangled cry from coming out. Mea! We had just started to figure "us" out, I couldn't lose her, not now.
I pulled up at the hospital, barely taking the time to put my bike on its stand, I tossed my helmet back in the general direction of where I had parked and headed into the hospital, stopping at the nurse's station to find out the appropriate floor number I grabbed the next elevator going up.
Tink was waiting in the hall when I arrived, pacing from back and forth although when he saw me he strode in my direction to meet me.
"Tawny looks like shit, but the doctors say she will be alright with some rest and time to recover."
"Did she tell you anything about Mea?"
"Not much before the doctors closed her in that room to finish checking her over, but she did say Mea put up a fight, one they won't forget! She wasn't going easily, and Tawny tried to help but they knocked her out so she couldn't see what direction they took Mea or plates on the van."
"Shit!" I sagged into one of the chairs outside of Tawny's room trying to control my panic . I had just gotten her back and they were trying to take her away from me!
I yanked my phone from my jeans pocket and dialed the MCs tech whiz, Circuit. I told him I needed him to hack into the traffic cameras, the cameras in the local stores, anything that would tell me where they were heading, which direction they had taken her. I told him to get back to me as soon as he had anything and hung up.
While I was on the phone with Circuit, Tink had taken the time to call my family and inform them of what was going on so that they could all head to the hospital.
I could feel the rage building, the sense of helplessness being unable to do something to help my girl as I sat in the chair facing the opposite wall. Just as I felt it about to bubble over the door swung open to Tawny's room and the doctor exited, stopping upon seeing me waiting outside.
"Are you family?" He questioned.
"Yes her brother, and my parents are on their way in."
"Well she sustained a pretty hard blow to the head, but the MRI shows there shouldn't be any lasting damage. She will need to be watched to ensure she doesn't have a concussion, but otherwise she should be able to be released tonight."
