Beep beep beep

"Hyungwon! Come on. You have to wake up you will be late to school. I'm not calling you in sick again this month. Get your ass out of bed!" With his mom screaming at him and his alarm clock blaring, it was almost like a competition on who could be louder with waking the boy up.

Hyungwon groaned and slowly rolled himself over so he was on his back staring up at the ceiling. He hated mornings, especially the ones on school days.

School. He scoffs at the thought.

"Hyungwon! I'm warning you," his mom shouts one more time.

"I'm awake, mom! Calm down." Hyungwon rubs his tired eyes and slowly drags himself out of bed. He didn't want to, but he needed to get ready eventually, otherwise he was sure his mom would ram his locked bedroom door down.

He hasn't been sleeping very well the past week or so. The same dream kept reoccurring, the details being changed slightly each time. It was a boy his age who had white blonde hair protecting him, but there was something bad happening behind him and the boy was keeping Hyungwon hidden from something. It seemed to be dangerous, but every time he tried to see what was going on, everything would get really bright to the point that it was blinding. Then, he would wake up.

Strange dream.

Although, this wasn't the first time he had weird dreams. When he was really young, he had nightmares of a city burning down and he was in the middle of it all. He didn't remember that dream very well because it was mainly very hazy and blurry. Thankfully, he never dreamt that again.

Hyungwon finally finished getting prepared for his day and made it to the kitchen table with his parents.

"About time. You should feel grateful I wake you up. Most of the moms I talk to say they let their kid be late. Then they run to school like it's some marathon race." His mom says, while putting together a plate of breakfast for his son.

He chuckles, "Thank you, Mom. You're the bestest mom in the whole wide world. You're number one, the real mvp."

As Hyungwon reached for the plate, his mom hits his hand while calling him a brat. That caused the boy and his dad to burst out laughing. They always joked like that and the younger loved their family's relationship.

After a moment of silence from them eating, his mom speaks up. "I have a doctor's appointment later. The headaches have been happening a lot more frequently. I just hope it's nothing too serious." She lets out a sigh, as well.

Hyungwon looks at his mom with a sad expression. She has been dealing with cancer for the past year and it had seemed like she was getting better, but this news worried the boy.

"Don't give me that look. It'll be fine, baby. Wonnie, why don't you get ready and head to school now. I don't want you to be late," she suggests.

He didn't want to leave her, but he nods sadly and drags his feet to the door. Tugging his backpack over his shoulder, he finally makes his way out the door. It was going to be a long day.

The walk didn't take too much time, but Hyungwon wished for a delay. The longer it took meant the longer he was away from the assholes of the school.

"Hyungwonnie!" A bouncy Minhyuk runs up to him, as they both approach the school. Hyungwon rolled his eyes at his best friend's happy attitude, but smiled regardless.

"Hi, Minhyukkie. Why do you have to be so happy in the mornings? It's unnatural." Minhyuk doesn't respond to his friend except an unbothered shrug, while the two walk together into the school.

They barely made it to the first hallway when Hyungwon felt his feet stop by an unknown force and someone pushing him down, causing him to face plant the tile ground.

"Whoops! I didn't see you there!" He hears a familiar voice, but he can't see their face.

A group surrounding him bursts out laughing, mocking how weak he is. Not even a second later, Hyungwon feels his sides being kicked in. Just push through it, he tells himself. If he ignores them, they'll get bored and leave.

"Yah! Get up! Are you a mop or something? Cleaning the floor?" The familiar voice shouts.

"Enough!" A teacher finally walks out, eyeing the crowd and dismisses all of the boys surrounding Hyungwon. He walks away after the group disperses, leaving Hyungwon lying there. He hoped it was for good, but that wasn't his luck.

"You okay?" A hand enters his vision and he finds his friend towering over him.

Hyungwon nods at Minhyuk as he takes his helping hand to pull him off the ground.

"I hate them."

"Agreed."
