i acted like i had no idea about everything that happened when in reality, i was actually just behind them the whole time.

i slowly opened my house's door, careful not to wake up my parents. i tiptoed over to the kitchen to get a glass of water, but before i could open the fridge, the lights suddenly opened.

"where have you been?" i heard my dad's all too familiar voice. i slowly turned around like i was in a horror movie and saw my mom and dad beside the kitchen counter. busted.

"ncity???" i laughed awkwardly as a futile attempt to lighten the tension in the room. though i think my answer made it worse.

"we're not playing games with you, ahri. how long have you been sneaking out like this? don't you know how worried you made us feel!?" i flinched at my mother's sudden outburst. she normally doesn't raise her voice, she's too much of a calm person to do that.

they looked at me with disappointment evident on their faces.

"alright... i'll come clean" i looked at them apologetically and motioned for us to sit on the living room's sofa.

we sat down. my dad laid a hand on my shoulder and looked at me with a face that says 'we're not angry, we're just concerned'.

"you guys know wonyoung, right?-" i asked and they nodded, "-well, long story short, she has a secret admirer and it turned out to be her childhood friend that ignored her for years, but we didn't know that yet at first. so i started investigating and stuff and boom i found out that it was renjun and yada yada yada i helped him with their date today-- tonight... i'm sorry" i bowed my head.

they looked at each other and i guess they were talking with their eyes because they already knew what to say without even talking to each other verbally.

"you could've just told us before sneaking out every night... you made us so worried, we thought something bad is happening to you. you know you can trust us with these things. we're not that strict, you know" my dad smiled down at me.

i thought they'd be mad... guess i'd assumed wrong.

if only everyone's parents were like this. if only wonyoung's mother is like this.

"but you're still grounded for a week" eh. that'll do.
