Stiles' POV

"Hes waking up! Come quick!" Someone shouts.

When I come too, everyone's looking at me worriedly. I'm lying on the sofa, Derek and Ma kneeling next to me, each holding onto my hand and my dad leaning over the back of the sofa, peering down at me.

"How's Alfred?" I mumble confusedly, my motherly instinct kicking in again.

"He's fine Stiles, I think he's still asleep." Derek assures me.

"Alfred?" Ma asks.

"I'll tell you later, I think Stiles is kinda more important right now." Derek says and I feel sort of happy inside, until I realise it's probably just an act.

"Never let go of this one, son." Dad says, nudging me with his elbow and winking, making my stomach sink. I give him a fake smile and turn back to Ma. Derek give me a sympathetic look and Ma is just nodding to what dad says.

"So what happened to me? All I remember is laughing. A lot of laughing. Why was I laughing? Am I possessed by an evil fox again?"

"TRICKSTER fox." Dad corrects and I dismiss him. Ma eyes is like she is definitely getting answers later.

"W-Whatever, what's happened?"

"Mild hysteria mixed with heavy exhaustion." Derek states. I look at him when he says it and I know that's not all, but I ain't asking him here in front of Ma. I go to get up, but three pairs of hands meet me to push me down again.

"No, no baby." Ma says.

"You have to rest up." Dad says.

"But I'm boorrrreeedddd!" I whine, trying to play up the ADD.

"Then tell me who- what Alfred is." Ma says.

"He/she's a hedge hog. We found him/ her when Derek... Fell over." I say. "We think it's ill."

"So mother Theresa over here decided we have to nurse him back to health." Derek gripes.

"Just like your mother." Ma says, and dad nods to agree. I blush and look away. It used to be that it hurt to even mention her, for me and dad, but over time, we learnt to look back and smile instead. That's how she would want it.

"I had mrs Stilinski one year as my form teacher when I was about seven." Derek says out of the blue. I look up at him in surprise. "She's still my favourite teacher. One time, I found a bird in the playground with a broken wing. I brought it to her and for the next few months, it lived in the classroom. When it could fly again, she let me release it and before it flew away, it flew a circle round her head."

When Derek finished his story, everything was silent. I'm pretty sure everyone had tears in their eyes. Ma the got up, patted him on his shoulder and said she'd go make us tea. Dad also made his excuses and left the room.

"Dude! What's happening to me?" I demand as soon as the door clicks shut.

"Nothing you need to worry about in your state." He said simply and I roll my eyes for once.

"Dude! You can cut the care bear shit now! They're gone! Just tell me!" I shout-whisper. He looks angry again. Oh fuck no. I don't wanna start this argument again. "Ok, last time this happened, you ran off and got netted, just tell me what happened!" He looks down at the floor and then looked up at me apologetically.

"I think I've been poisoning you."
