"So, what's this place called," I asked as I laced up my spiked heel gladiator sandals.
"Star Dust. It just opened last weekend," Femi said
We all wore sleeveless rompers and gladiator sandals. V had done our makeup and Femi did our hair.
"Hopefully the same niggaz from NYV ain't up in there," V said.
"Right. We need to find some new blood," Femi said and gave a little shimmy to make sure everything stayed in place.
"For real," I agreed, putting in my stud earrings.
"Well let's do this," Femi said grabbing her keys.
We were lucky Femi knew one of the bouncers or we would have been standing outside for hours. The line was wrapped around the block. A few batted eyelashes and we were in. She led the way over to the bar.
"What can I get you ladies," the bartender asked.
"3 shots of 1800. And a Cosmo," Femi said.
"I'll have a Hennessey margarita," Viveka replied.
I said, "I'll have a jack and coke. Easy on the ice, please."
"Sure thing," he said and smiled.
V couldn't take her eyes off of him. Apparently, I wasn't the only one with a thing for white boys. He was handsome with light brown hair and gray eyes. You didn't often see white boys tending bar on this side of town either. V handed him a 50 and told him to keep the change.
The three of us made our way through the writhing mass that was the dance floor until we found an empty table near the back. We did our shots of tequila. I sipped my drink and observed the dark club.
"Come dance with us," Femi said.
"Stop wasting your breath. She likes to watch, get over it," Viv joked and killed the rest of her drink.
I rolled my eyes at her and said, "Ha ha. Actually, I feel like showing out tonight. Let's go make some bitches mad."
For the next half hour, the three of us twerked and put on a show. I knew we were pushing it when a group of guys started throwing cash at us. I thought we'd get kicked out for sure. I started picking up the dollars.
Femi tapped me on the shoulder and pointed as a man with two bouncers made their way toward us. V picked up the rest of the cash quickly. The crowd began to disperse immediately.
"Excuse me ladies," a man with pretty eyes said.
"Sorry, sir. Don't know what came over us," Femi explained.
"Maybe your drinks are too strong," I said and grinned at him seductively.
He smiled back.
"Just don't let it happen again. My boss will kick my ass and ban you three," he said.
"It won't, if you have a drink with my girl," Vi said pointing to me.
I shook my head and rolled my eyes. Flirting to get outta being kicked out is one thing. Having a drink with the manager was something totally different.
"This bitch always tryna play cupid," I muttered to myself.
"Don't mind her," I said to him.
"Well it's almost 11. I can take my break now," he said glancing at his watch.
I looked at my best friend in disdain. They both knew I wasn't looking for a relationship or even a quick hook up. And yet they were trying to set me up.
