That conversation in Devereaux's shower changed something about our relationship. He started spending most of his nights at my place. He made love to me every night and I began to suspect he was trying to get me pregnant. Whenever I asked him about it he would play it off saying he would wife me before we had any kids.
I let it go but made sure to get a pregnancy test when I went to my doctor the third week in January. I was relieved when that and the STI tests came back clean. I was so happy I planned a whole day for us just for him to tell me he had to go out of town for a few days. I was disappointed but he promised to make it up to me. He also offered me his table at Bresis. So, I called the girls and told them to get ready.
I had promised the girls a girl's night over three weeks ago but I was still disappointed I wouldn't be spending the night with him. I went and got dressed then left for the restaurant. Femi and V were super excited. V, like me had never even heard of the place. Apparently, Femi had tried to get a table at Bresis but there was always a six month wait.
"How does Devereaux even know the owner of this place," V asked as the building came into view.
"Benjamin Davon was best friends with Dev's father. Dev used to bus tables here," I said, laughing as we pulled up to the valet.
"Aw, that's so cute. I can't even picture that man as a busboy," Femi said, with almost a little too much appreciation for my man in her voice.
"He was only 15 at the time," I said.
We stepped inside and I gave the hostess my name. She led us up to the second floor. The table was set for the three of us and like last time the other tables were bare. We took our seats and gave her our drink order.
"Okay, this is officially the nicest restaurant I've ever been to. Even on my fanciest date," V said.
"I dated a millionaire for a little while and he nunca me comproen cualquier lugar como este," Femi said.
"Never? I mean I know this place is nice but we're still in the damn city," I said taking a sip of water.
"Nope. Nicest place I've ever been," Femi said.
Our waitress brought out our drinks and I got appetizers for the three of us. The girls looked over the menu. I already knew what I wanted. I took the time to check my phone. I hadn't heard from Devereaux since he called to tell me his flight had landed safely. I tried my hardest not to be worried but every time Jonathan was 'out of town' he was fucking off with three or four bitches. I sent him a quick text saying that I was thinking of him.
"So, do you know what you're getting," V asked.
"Yeah, steak and Lobster. What about you two," I asked, still looking at my phone trying to will a text to pop up.
When I did finally look up, they were both staring at me. Apparently, they'd asked me what I thought of their choices but I hadn't heard them. I slipped my phone back into my purse.
"Sorry. Dev is outta town. Makes me nervous," I admitted.
"It's fine. What's new with you two," V asked.
"Well he kinda demanded that we be eternally exclusive," I said.
"Like marriage? Did he propose and you didn't tell us," Femi asked.
"Not so much. He did say that he would've married me the next day if necessary. I told him right now it wasn't."
"So, what changed then," V asked.
"He doesn't want us to use condoms anymore," I explained.
V and Femi both looked at me in surprise.
