Stepping off the airplane, (Y/N) breathes in the air, exhaling slowly. Nate appears from behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
Sam and Sully stood to the side, bickering over something and nothing whilst Cassie stood with her head in her hands at the two.
"Ready?" Nate mumbles and (Y/N) nods.
"Let's go home."
They all make their way to two cabs, Sully and Sam placing their bags into one whilst Nate does the same with his, Cassie's and (Y/N)'s.
"All right, this is it kid. No more 'I'm trapped on a boat in the middle of nowhere' crap." Sully insists and she chuckles.
"I promise."
"Yeah, well, I know what you two are like. It won't be long." He replies.
"Not this time. Maybe Cassie, but certainly not us." She states and he sighs.
Sully pulls her in for a hug and she buries her face in his chest, breathing in the smoke that always made her feel at home.
"I'm proud of you." He whispers.
Pulling away, she smirks. "Don't become a stranger when you go on jobs. Cassie needs her gramps."
Laughing, he ruffles her hair like he always did when she was a kid. "Never."
Sully goes over to Nate and Cassie and Sam steps up, a cigarette in his mouth, already having said goodbye to the other two.
"Y'know, you're making this sound as if we're departing for good." He says.
"Well, after a hair-raising adventure it's like a tradition, isn't it?" She jokes and he chuckles.
"Of course." Sam looks at her, studying her features.
"Princess. You did nothing wrong. We all would've done the same." He reassures and she nods, putting on a smile.
"He's out of our lives for good. That's all that matters." (Y/N) responds.
"C'mere, sister." He says, pulling her in for a bone-crushing hug and kissing the side of her temple.
"We'll see you soon." Sam tells them all and Sully gets into the cab.
"Make sure we do." Nate instructs, Sam smiling and getting in beside Sully.
Cassie stands in front of her parents, the three of them waving the two off as they drive out of sight.
"Right." (Y/N) claps her hands. "I'm looking forward to spending a night in my own bed."
"Me too." Cassie agrees, hurrying to get into the cab and the other two follow her.
(Y/N) leans her head on Nate's shoulder, who kisses the top of it and takes her hand into his, linking fingers.
"Everything's okay." He whispers, the pair falling asleep.
—
The key turns in the lock and the door opens slowly to the dark and cold of the house. Flicking the light switch, Nate puts his suitcase down. "Home sweet home."
Cassie pushes her past the two, running up the stairs. "Night!" She yells.
(Y/N) laughs and Nate rolls her eyes at the slam of her door. "Charming." He mutters.
"She's had a rough time." (Y/N) reminds him. "She's doing well to forget it and she's absolutely shattered."
At this, Nate yawns. "Me too. Let's go to bed."
"You go on up, I'll follow in a minute." She tells him and with hesitancy he nods, kissing her and heading upstairs.
Going into the kitchen, she pours herself a glass of water and downs it. Her hands grip the side of the counter and she lets the tears fall.
Both from feeling angry and happy.
Angry at murdering someone who could've changed. Who could've had a better life if given the chance. Happy that Jax was gone. That he could no longer hurt her or her family every again. She had loved him once.
Of course she was angry and shocked at what she had done but it was okay.
Her family was safe.
And that was all that she cared about.
She was safe. Nate and Cassie were safe. Sam and Sully were safe.
She smiles softly, her hands lifting from the counter to her eyes, wiping away the tears and heading off to bed.
To her husband.
Everything was okay.
