It was a month into freshmen year had started even though they were still doing the band stuff Kinsley was a cheerleader and Bucky played football. Kinsley had developed a crush on one of the linebackers Joshua Burke. When she found out when Homecoming was she was excited cause she had secretly hope that since he was always flirting back with her that he was going to ask her. She was already nominated to be on court for homecoming as a Duchess candidate.
She was at her locker in her cheer uniform since it was Friday and Varsity game day when Joshua came in with a box. "Hey Kinsley darlin.." Joshua said
"Hey Josh." she said with a smile.
"This is for you darlin." Josh hands her the box he brought in.
She smiled and opened it up and gasped.

"Josh of course I would love to go to homecoming with you! Oh I'm so excited I was going to ask if you would like to be my escort?' she said
"I would love to darlin." he said as he kissed her cheek.
She smiled at him "Thank you.' she said
She didn't realize that Bucky was standing behind her and saw the football in her box. "Hey Barnes' Josh said
Kinsley turned around and said "Look Buck..Josh asked me to the dance and he's going to be my escort on court."
He forced a smile and said "That's great Kinsley I'm really happy for you.. um I 'm not feeling so hot so I'm just gonna go see if my mom can come get me."
"Buck are you okay?' she said
"Yeah I"m fine.." he said as he walked away.
She looked at Josh confused "Wonder what's wrong with him?' she said
"Who knows" he said as he opened his locker and she put the box in hers.
Winnie picked him up and he said "Do you want to talk about it?'
"I missed my window to ask Kinsley to the dance. Burke beat me to the punch with a big elaborate proposal and even said yes to be her escort." he said
"Oh honey I'm sorry I told you to not wait." Winnie said
"I guess it's okay she really likes him anyways." he said as he looked out the window.
Winnie looked down "Honey how is she suppose to know that you like her if you don't tell her." she said
"Mom just let it go okay?' he said
Two weeks later Josh walked her out on court and she won Duchess for the lower classmen. Bucky watched as she and Josh danced all throughout the dance then he saw him give Kinsley her first kiss.
