Chapter 20-where she gets scared

I got off two blocks from Maya's place. I didn't want the driver to go report where I was. It only took me a few minutes to walk to her apartment. She opened the door before I got the chance to knock. She threw her arms around me as soon as she saw me. And from the attention, I started to sob. We stayed hugged like that for a few more seconds and then we walked back in her apartment.

I had never been here before. We were planning on it but not on these circumstances.

"Tell me what happened " she said as soon as I sat on the couch. It was a very nice couch.

"He lied to me" I said between sobs. "And I'm so stupid, everything was a lie. " I told her.

"Did he cheat on you?" Maya asked.

"No, at least I don't know it, " I said.

"Then what happened, you're scaring me " she cried.

"It's embarrassing that I believed everything he said, it seemed so genuine " I said in a little voice I could barely hear it myself. I looked over at Maya and realized that her eyes were already beginning to get glassy.

"You remember the reason I stayed with Trevor at first right?" I asked her while wiping my nose with my sweater. And she nodded. "The accident, some stupid guy hit you and ran" she said in a hurry as if she can't wait to hear what's next.

"Trevor is that stupid guy " I simply said.

I was expecting to hear "what the fuck, are you serious, " but nothing came. She just stared at me, not showing any emotion, I began to get worried. I mean, Maya talks a lot,she's that person that talks through anything and right now of all times I expected her to scream and shout and curse him and comfort me but she was just quiet. And I'm scared.

"Maya, are you ok?" I asked cautiously. She closed her eyes slowly and took a deep breath.

"Maya?" I asked again. "Are you ok?"

She looked at me with such anger, now I was confused, who was she mad at?

She stood up quickly and ran toward another door and came out with shoes and a purse.

"Where are you going?" I stood up alarmed. she turned around and looked at me.

"I'm going to go kill that piece of shit" she said in a calm voice.

Ok now I was really scared. When she talks with that calm voice that means someone is really going to be killed. Three weeks ago there was a girl who was talking shit and spreading rumors about her at the office and she teared the girls extensions.

"Maya, it's ok, I'm going to be ok, I just need a little time and to be on my feet and I will be ok, no need to kill anyone. " I said, I hope that could calm her down.

"Ok, good for you but you wouldn't be in this situation if that son of a bitch did not lie, so excuse me I need to go murder your ex"

"What about work? You're going to be late" I quickly reminded her.

"Oh this is worth it" she said and went out leaving me awed.
