Chapter 23

I was shocked. I couldn't move. This family had it in them to shock people.
"I uh " I couldn't speak.
"No need to panic dear, I just wanted to say hello" she said with so much ease.
" Umm hello" I managed to utter the words. What the hell was she doing here? I mean, I'm not with her son anymore and Trevor talked to his mother about me?
I never imagined that Trevor was a mommy's boy. That thought brought a smile to my face.
".... dear" Mrs Anderson said.
"I'm sorry what?" I was so lost in thought I hadn't heard her talking.
" I said , I wanted to invite you to dinner at my house tomorrow" she said. Dinner? Wow. Did she want to warn me like those other novels that I always read about, you know where the mother of the rich boyfriend warns the poor girlfriend that she's not welcome in the family and they already have a girl for their son. 

" I just want to get to know you" She insisted.
" Umm Mrs Anderson, thank you for the invite but umm I can't, I mean we are not together anymore and I just can't. And if this was Trevor's idea. .." I rumbled
" Oh no no no dear, Trevor doesn't know I'm here, I was just curious and I wanted to meet you" Mrs Anderson explained.
" I'm flattered that you came all the way here but we broke up and uh.. that won't be necessary. " I told her.
" Don't punish me for my son's sins hunny, I just want to talk to you, dinner only ,I promise. " She insisted
I just gathered that The Andersons get what they want and Mrs Anderson was no different. 
"Okay" I said giving up "one dinner"
She smiled on triumph.
" Thank you dear," she said getting up from her seat. " I will see you tomorrow" she took her jacket and wore it. I just nodded.
"And ,Maria, where are you staying?" She asked when she was almost at the door.  I hesitated for a moment but then Im certain Trevor already knew where I was staying.
"I'm staying at a friend's" I answered "Maya's" I added when she kept quiet.
"Oh I know her place, I will send a car tomorrow to pick you up, I don't want you worrying about transportation"
" Thank you Mrs Anderson" I said.
She quickly waved her hand ate dismissing me " no need for that, call me Portia" she said smiling.
"Umm , thank you Portia" I said and she smiled satisfied and she walked out the door.

I was left speechless yet again.  I cleared her table and went in the back to clock out. A few minutes later I was home and found Maya seated on the couch eating a tub of ice cream and had a puppy face on.

"What's wrong?" I quickly asked walking over to her. She looked at me as if I had accused her of robbing the bank.
"Why do you assume there anything wrong?" She fired.
"Uhh well, you look like you just finished watching Titanic and you chugging a whole tub of ice cream, my favorite" I said as I sat next to her.
" You know me so well" she said with a mouthful of ice cream.
I laughed.
"Now what's wrong?" I asked again hoping she will tell me. Maya is a bit of closed off and she kinda has this tough persona that she sends out and she doesn't like discussing her emotions.
"You look tired" she observed. I rolled my eyes at her for trying to avoid the question.
"I know I'm tired,but what is wrong with you?" I pushed.
" I will tell you tomorrow, you should take a bath ,eat and rest. You look really tired. " She insisted. I laughed a bit and settled myself on the couch.
"Yes, you will tell me tomorrow, but then tomorrow when I wake up you will be gone and by the time you come back from work you will be smiling your ass off and you will dismiss "this" when I ask you again, so no, tell me now" I rambled.
" Urgghh you're so pushy! When did you get all pushy like that? Where I'd the soft girl that I met 8months ago?"
" Well, pushy me has been here all along, now out with it" I said.
" Ok,so we've got a major problem"  she said as she adjusted herself so she faced me.
" And what's the major problem?" I asked.
"Well, there's this new guy at the office and he kinda kissed me" she said in a rush. I didn't react. She opened her eyes slowly to look at me. And when she did I burst out laughing.
She looked at me as if I was crazy.  After o had calmed down.  I looked at her.
"Why are you laughing?" She asked in all seriousness.
"I was expecting to here something like you put an asshole in jail and now he's threatening to kill us both, not that a guy kissed you" I told her " but you know what, on second thought, this is serious!" My eyes popped open. " Oh My goodness!! A guy kissed you!!!" I jumped off the couch.
" I know, now you get it, I was thinking I was going to hit you with a broom to get your senses back or something. " She said in a " duh" way.
" Ok, ok, now tell me what happened, from the top" I tell her.
" He's new as I said, he's uh the boss's son" she cringed and I smiled.
"Go on" I encouraged
" He is an asshole, and he gets on my nerves, we've been arguing with each other all week and today I was shouting at him one second and then one second he was kissing me." She said in a s hooked face as if it just happened.
(Ok so you are probably wondering why we're making a fuss out of all this, well you see, Maya is kinda a tough person and she don't let anyone do that to her and she don't do feelings.  She don't believe in love , she believes its not real. )
"Did you bust his nuts?" I asked curiously.
" No, that's the problem" she whined. " Why didn't you?" I asked confused.
" I liked it" she said and hid her face on the cushion. I couldn't believe my ears. Maya liked someone kissing her, when she's not the one who initiated it.
" Oh yeah, I'm so happy for you" I shouted.  She quickly looked at me with eyes full of anger.
" No, no ,no!! Don't be happy, this, is not a happy matter! "
"But Maya."
" No, I hate feeling like this, I hate for me not to be in control, I hate for my body to betray me, " she said softly with eyes full of tears now. I walked over to her and gathered her into my arms. I could see she was hurting, I've never seen Maya so defeated. I know she thinks falling in live is a bad thing, but despite me having my heart broken almost every time, I had to show her that sometimes falling in live is the best thing that could happen to a person.
