Chapter Thirty-seven

My mouth hangs open.

The auditorium goes into a frenzy until the host orders them to quiet down.

"We've already found her" they repeat again, as if we needed to hear it again.

"She's actually here with us today" Key says.

"Really? Well call her over!" The host says incredulously.

Onew motions to Taemin. He stands up and heads toward the mini steps that lead off the stage. All eyes are on him as he makes his way towards the first row.

Towards me.

My eyes widen as he gets closer and closer. I can hear the collective gasps of the audience when he finally stands before me.

He extends his hand out to me.

I shake my head no and grasp on to my chair.

"Trust me" he says kindly. Why is he doing this? Won't he get us into trouble?

"Ha Ni......" he says getting my attention. I look into his eyes and see the same Taemin who slept by my side, the same one who protected me from my sister, and the same one who is slowly winning my heart.

"I trust you" I place my hand in his and a smile illuminates his face.

The crowd begins to gossip as he leads me to the stage, hand in hand.

The sudden brightness of the stage blinds me temporarily. My heart pounds loudly in my chest and I don't know what to do or say.

Taemin sits down, and pulls me down gently by his side. And as if to clear any of the audience's doubts, the boys surround me and Key drapes his arm over my shoulder.

"Wow! Aren't you a lucky girl! You must be Oh Ha Ni, correct?"

" Y-yes" I stutter.

"Shes's our ideal girl in many ways, she's kind and sincere. She puts up with Keys constant nagging and shopping urges, she cooks with skill, and is confident in her own way. All in all she is our best attribute, and friend. However it pains us that recently she's been the target of false rumors and even assault" Onew says.

Jonghyun puts his hand on my free shoulder "Ha Ni is part of SHINee, she is our family, and whoever messes with her is also threatening us."

I bow my head, very aware that my cheeks are burning red. Here I am on national TV, being praised by Korea's hottest stars. It seems like a dream, but it's real.

This is my life.

And it must be pretty special if five guys are willing to put their career on the line for it.

Now its my turn.

"I wish to say something" I blurt out.

The host seems delighted and motions so the spotlight is directly on me.

No pressure. Yeah right......

"First I'd like to express my gratitude towards you and your wonderful show"

The host smiles and blushes.

"But more importantly I'd like to say something to all of SHINee's fans" I turn my face so I'm looking at the audience head on.

"I'm not a privileged woman, I don't come from a wealthy family and I didn't go to a prestigious college. Before meeting SHINee I was an average girl struggling to pay rent and find a job. But by a miracle I was able to cross paths with them, and my life has changed since then. I want you all to know that I care about them just as much as you do, and I'd never hurt or take advantage of their kindness in any way. And although they may see me as family, they're affections for me are no comparison for the love they have towards they're faithful fans. So please continue to support and love them, because having me around won't change them, because instead they have changed me"

I bow my head respectfully and take a deep breath.

Several seconds pass in frightening silence....

A blast of applause originates from the audience and I feel weight lift off from my shoulders.

"Wow! What a revelation! I'm so glad that you opened up to me, and to all of us, and to everyone who is watching from their homes" the host praises me and I lower my head in respect once more.

"Now that we all know the affection there is between you and the boys, I'm sure the audience is wondering if there is a chance that you might develop romantic feelings for one of them?" The host raises an eyebrow and I don't know what to say.

I feel more than a hundred eyeballs staring at me.

What should I say? If I say that there's no way then I'd be lying, and if I admit to it, I probably won't live to see the day of tomorrow! My mind is in turmoil and I feel like crying.

"It would be a privilege for any of us to be Ha Ni's love interest" key says and pats my knee.

Now he's done it! I'll be dead tomorrow for SURE!

"But in all honesty....... it's my privilege"

The crowd gasps, including me, when Taemin presses his lips against my cheek for the whole freaking universe to see.

"I believe Ha Ni came to us by fate, and I also believe that my feelings for her are stronger than ever. The past rumors of her and my fellow member Minho, are just that. Rumors. But if you want reality, then this is it"

He stands up and pulls me with him.

"My dear fans! If you love SHINee, and if you wish for my happiness....then please grant us your blessing!" Taemin does a deep bow and I follow.

"Well what do we say folks? Will you grant them all your blessings?!" The host shouts.

"YES!" The audience confirms.

Applause and shouts echo throughout the building. Joyous cries explode from all over.

"Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!" The audience begs.

I smile nervously and wave my hand no.

Taemin suddenly spins him around so that I'm facing him.

"Do you trust me?!" He shouts through the noise.

"Yes" I close my eyes. I feel his kiss.

The world disappears. His hands fall to my waist and in that instant I feel as light as a feather.

Our lips part slowly and the crowd "Awwwwwwww's"

But I don't hear it.

I'm too busy smiling.
