Quanae P.O.V

4 years later...

I held Donovan's hand as we walked up close to the tombstone. Donovan was too young to even know his mother died, or to even understand it, but I wouldn't just leave her out. At least once out the year, me and DJ brings him here to place a red rose on her grave.

Dj stood back by the nearest tree while holding Lanae and watching me and Donovan closely. Dj was a little sad having to know that he'd have to explain the death of his birth mother at some point of his life but otherwise, these visits didn't too much get to Dj.

It got to me, because at some point of time, Janine and I were friends. The best of friends. She had let me stay with her, even if she did get on my nerves. High school was the break up of all my temporary relationships with people. Friendship wise as well. I'm just glad I still have my high school sweetheart.

Three years ago, me and Dj were married outside of Mrs. Jones new house that Dj purchased for her and his father since they were back together and happy. No they weren't married, but the conversation has been brought up plenty of times.. We had only important people there that we knew wouldn't act a fool. Of course Lauren didn't show up. We haven't seen her since the day Dj gave her the money for Lanae. Every since then, Lanae has been living with us and has been well taken care of.

Dj and I still hadn't reproduced, but we hadn't givin up hope either, but right now I have the love and life i've always wanted. I have a husband whom I know loves me dearly, a son that's bad as hell but makes it all worth it, and a niece whose so beautiful. Everything is how I always wanted it to be growing up. I'd hate to rob any kid of not having their mother and father in their lives, together.

Even though my life is already complete, I was hoping to have more editions to my family. Dj and I talked about having at least three or four more kids. It sounds like a lot, but losing my first baby just makes me want to fill that empty place. Plus it's always been my dream to have a big family. I'm happy with everything right now, and I couldn't be any happier.

After letting Donovan place the flowers on his birth mother's grave, I scooped him up in my arms, joining my husband and my niece under a tree close by Janine's grave. The tree's bloomed sending a smile to my face. For some reason, it made me feel she'd thank me for all that i've done.

Dj pecked me on the lips, before grabbing my hand and pulling me towards his truck. We buckled both of the kids in their car seats before getting into our seats and pulling off to Mrs. Jones house. Today, she was having a small family cookout with a few of her sisters in town.

When we arrived, there were a fair amount of cars parked outside, most looking expensive.

Taking out the kids, and holding both of their hands, Dj and I walked side by side into the house, being greeted by family members that i've met before, and also one's that i've just heard about.

"Quanae! You look so beautiful." Dj's cousin, Shamara said as she gave me a hug. She was about 17, and if I might say so myself, looked up to me as an older sister. I met her at the wedding, and since then she's been texting me and spent a fair amount of time at Dj and I home. Too bad that will all end soon.

"You look good too girl!" I complimented her. She was about 5'7, slim built, dark skinned, with a fresh new weave in her hair. She was beautiful.

"Wassup." I heard a voice call from behind me. I turned around and once I saw who it was, I embraced them in a hug. Even though, I thought i'd never ever in a million years thought i'd like this person, he was a new found friend to me. It was Man Man.

When Lauren left those few years ago, Man Man contacted Dj as a man, and begged to let him be in his daughter life. Of course it took Dj some time to accept it, he eventually let him. Dj forgave him for what he did, and now they were like brothers.

He also apologized to me for what he put me through. He blamed everything on his tough up bringing, but he was able to change his life around. He now has a white girlfriend, whom he goes to church with faithfully every week, and keeps Lanae every other week.

"Hey ugly. How you been?" I asked as though I didn't just see him a few days ago, on the Sunday that he brought Lanae back to our house.

He chuckled. "Good good. Hey daddy baby." He picked Lanae up and dapped Dj. He walked off with Lanae after greeting Donovan and sat down next to his girlfriend.

In the center of the kitchen, I spotted Demar and Yoyo digging through pans of food and stacking there plates. I shook my head and walked over to them.

"Baby! I missed you!" I jumped on Yoyo and hugged her tightly. She smiled and held me while hugging me back.

"I missed you too! I can't believe your going to leave me. " Her smile faded and turned into a frown. "When do you guys leave?" She asked while helping me get off of her and continued to stack her plate.

"Tomorrow at 5 in the morning. We want to make it early so that we have time to get some of the packing undone." I told her while grabbing a grilled chicken wing off her plate. She smacked my hand but I still grabbed it.

She shook her head, "We'll be there within the next three months. You know Demar has to get out the game, and tie up some loose ends and we'll be able to come and live it up!" She semi shouted.

"Wassup sis." Demar embraced me in a hug.

"Hey brother." I said hugging him back and letting go to finish my conversation with Yoyo.

Dj and I broke it to the family two and a half months ago, that we were moving out to Nevada to start a new life. I was offered a Management job in Marketing, taking my career to another level. I was going to go to college and complete four years in business management so that my job would be legit.

Of course a few weeks later, Demar and Yoyo, as well as Man Man accepted that we were leaving and decided to come with. Demar was trying to get away from selling drugs, and Yoyo was down for whatever Demar was down for. Their son was now 6 years old, and they also thought the move would be good for him.

As far as Man Man, he didn't wanna be far away from his daughter. Yet, he didn't know Dj was going to let him get full custody of her. Of course she would still be coming around us for weekends, but we decided to let Man man do his job, and that's being a father to his loving, 4 year old daughter.

Mr and Mrs. Jones decided to stay since the distance of everyone being gone, will keep us out of their business.

"Girl shut up. It's only for a few months. We'll see you then." I rolled my eyes at her being overly dramatic and walked away.

I walked off to get Dj a plastic plate and began stacking his plate with the different types of food that Mrs. Jones prepared.

I gave Donovan a pieces of chicken that he could eat on, and his bottle.

Throughout the rest of the little family gathering, we all sat up, talked, and reminisce about everything we've been through. Never in a million years did I think i'd still be sitting here, with my happily ever, forever. I can't say after, because the journey has just begun.

Dj always told me his biggest regret was letting me go, and also having a baby with someone else. But, I also told him, without us being apart, we wouldn't be where we are today. He wouldn't have Donovan, and I probably wouldn't be here beside him, and holding him down.

A Players Regret could also turn into a Players Outstanding Future. Thank you GOD for this beautiful beginning.
