disclaimer: I do not own camp Half-Blood or any of the original characters those all belong to Rick Riordan, I only own the characters I have created in this book.
Why does everything bad happen to me? Why does it seem the world is out to get me? Why do I have the worst of luck?
My name is Delmare Ailee Hunter, but I go by Ailee and my misfortunate story begins at age three when my mom died in a car accident. My mom was the only family I had, I had never met my dad and all my other family members were dead. So, the moment my mom died my life was turned upside down. I was taken away and sent to foster homes where I would stay for a few months, and then I would cause some freak accident or do something completely unnatural, like when I was 3 and I stayed under water for an hour without drowning, or when I blew up the fountain in my foster parents yard, and I would be sent yo another foster home. And the cycle would begin again.
My life webbing like this for the next nine years of my life. it only finally changed at my last foster home. At this foster home I almost felt like I belonged, like they wanted me. I had made an amazing friend, Maya Cortez, another foster child whom I shared a room with. Maya was a year older than me, 14. She was very beautiful. Maya was tall and skinny with long wavy golden brown hair and gorgeous hazel eyes. She was very smart and a reliable friend. By just looking at Maya you could tell she was very wise and was a good person to be friends with.
For about half a year I lived an almost normal life at that foster home, I went to Maryhill Academy for troubled kids with Maya because we both have ADHD and dyslexia. We would have normal conversations and I never caused any freak accidents. But, of course, that all changed.
Soon a new foster child came. His name was Justin. He had shaggy black hair and dark brown, almost black eyes, he was skinny and short.
When I first saw him my body told me he was dangerous.
Then night after he arrived Maya came to me in our room and said, "I don't like this, something is telling me he is dangerous."
"I know, something just doesn't seem right about him," I replied.
Maya started to walk out of the room, and I stopped her, "what are you doing?" I asked.
"I have to figure out what's going on." She answered as she walked out of the room.
After she went out of the room I changed into pajamas and got in bed. That night I got barely any sleep because I was having nightmares of Maya and I being attacked by this large humanoid creature with bat wings and large claws. In the morning when I woke up, I found Maya already dressed and ready to go for the day.
"Couldn't sleep?" I asked
"Too many nightmares." She stated.
"Same here."
I quickly grabbed some clothes and went into our bathroom and changed. When I came out Maya and I were about to leave when we heard the scratching. It sounded like something was clawing our door. Maya told me not to open it, but my curiosity got the best of me. I opened the door to find Justin outside, except he looked different. I couldn't figure out why until I noticed the fact that he had long sharp claws, then I noticed a few other differences his eyes had become completely black and he had sharp fangs. Then I heard a popping noise and saw wings pop out of his back. Then I came to the realization Justin was the creature that had haunted my nightmares the previous night. As I was thinking this Justin reached out a raked the side of my face with his long, sharp claws.
Maya yelled at me to run and I did not hesitate. Maya and I took off full speed past Justin, who seemed to be a little out of it due to his transformation. We ran out of the house and as we left out the door I saw Justin get up and start running towards us. As we were running down the sidewalk we passed a fire hydrant and I had this impulse. The impulse was very strong and was telling me to concentrate on it, and make it explode. As I looked at it I though please just explode, I mean you seem to like to malfunction when I don't want you to. Please just grant me this one wish.
Finally it exploded, and just in time, hitting Justin hard in the gut. He fell to the ground and I started running so I could catch up to Maya. We ran for almost five minutes before Justin finally got up, but he was dazed and was walking in a crooked way. We ran faster and he couldn't catch up, in no time we had lost him. We ran for almost another hour before finally stopping.
After we stopped Maya looked at me and said,"how did you do that?"
"How did I do what?"
"Make the fire hydrant explode?"
"Oh that, I don't really know all I know is that I had this strong feeling in my gut telling me to do it, and I did."
"Well thank you." She replied, "I could have gotten hurt."
"Your welcome."
After I said that she looked at my face and suddenly looked concerned. "Speaking of getting hurt, we should walk over to that park down the street and go into the bathroom and try and clean that cut on your forehead."
I had completely forgotten about the injury, but judging by the look of concern still on Maya' s face it was probably pretty bad. The two of walked to the park and entered the bathroom. We enter the bathroom and Maya and I walk up to the sink and she turns on the water and starts to clean my injury. As Maya cleans my injury I examine my face in the mirror. I look at my face taking in my dark lips that people used to tell me were just like my mother's, and my deep sea green eyes that were like staring at the sea after a storm. My pale skin was plastered with crusted on blood and the blood was also tinting my Black hair with its blue streak a reddish colour.
About five minutes later Maya had finished washing my cut and had started to bandage it with a torn off portion of her shirt. After she finished put the bandage on my wound we left. I asked Maya where we were going and she said, "I am not exactly sure, but I have this image in my of a place near the ocean and it is safe with fields and a forest surrounding it. I don't know what it is or who is sending me it, but someone is guiding me all I know is I need to keep following that light." As she said that she pointed in front of her at.... nothing.
"What light?" I asked
"You don't see it?"
"No"
"Well I can and I know we need to follow it."
I did not argue with her because she sounded very convinced and when Maya thinks something she is usually right. We spent the next five days following that mysterious light and weren't attacked once until the final day we spent walking.
It was late in the afternoon on our fifth day of walking and we had been walking foe several hours when Maya stopped me. "We are close." She said.
Right after she said that something dropped down from the sky above us. It was Justin. Justin sprang forward hitting me hard in the face and flinging me backwards. After he flung me backwards I felt something wet dripping down my face, blood, he must have reopened my cut her. he hit me. Soon I felt Maya as she helped me up and made me run. We ran fast as we could until we reached this tree with some sort of shimmering gold cloth on it. As we passed that tree we were suddenly no longer in a forest we were in a field and up ahead there were some old Greek buildings. I looked back and saw that Justin had been stopped by some invisible barrier he could not pass. Maya let me go and I tried to stand up, but started to fade out of consciousness, I had lost too much blood. I heard yelling and the footsteps of people running towards us. I finally fell unconscious and the last thing I saw was the pale face of a boy in an orange t-shirt looking at me as he picked me up.
I am doing a ton of updating right now, including changing the main characters name, so just warning.
