I awoke in a large room full of empty beds except mine and I was surrounded by a bunch of kids all wearing bright orange t-shirts. I scan the crowd looking for Maya and don't see her, but I do see the boy that had been helping as I was passing out. He was standing right next to me wrapping my head in a bandage. Now that my vision was not bleary from blood loss and my brain was working properly I examined him. He was fairly tall, with pale skin and light brown hair with a close cropped hair cut. But the most distracting part of him were his eyes. They were green on the outside but the part of his eye surrounding the pupil was a bright amber colour with little bits of brown flecked throughout.
A few minutes later they appeared to be done and everyone had left except the one boy. "Hi I am Aspen Carson, and I get to be your guide to Camp Half-Blood," He said. I had heard him call this place Camp Half-Blood, but decided not to ask any questions about it. "So are you gonna tell me your name, or should I just refer to you as girl?"
"I'm Ailee," I answered deciding that that would be what I would be called because I never liked the name Delmare.
"Well hi Ailee, now before we do anything else I wanna tell you about your injuries, the cut on your forehead is not horrible, but is pretty deep." He said, "I wrapped it up, and you should leave it that way for at least a day before removing it. Oh, and drink this, it will help." He handed me a cup of something, I did not know what it was, but I figured it was probably medicine of some sort. I took the cup from his hands and took a sip, I had been expecting something repulsive and nasty, but it tasted delicious, and familiar. It tasted like the strawberry jam her mom used to make, before she died.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Nectar," he answered, "it is the drink of the gods, and this," he said holding up a small chunk of something that appeared to be chocolate, "is ambrosia, the food of the gods. They can heal demigods, but if you eat or drink to much it could kill you because it is the food of the gods and we can only handle so much."
"Demigods?" I asked him.
"Yes, demigods, half god and half human. I am a demigod, son of Apollo."
"You're half god?" I inquired.
"Yes and so are you." he replied.
"Wait, what, me, half god?"
"Yes, if you weren't you could not have gotten into camp, and that nectar would have killed you," he stated.
After he said that I became very confused and he must have seen it on my face because he said, "I seem to be making you very confused. Maybe we should bring you to Chiron before I explain more. I did not argue, so after I finished my nectar he helped me up and led me to where Chiron was.
Along the way Aspen told me that Chiron was centaur, half man and half horse, and that he was director of activities at Camp Half-Blood. When we found Chiron he told Aspen to leave and gestured for me to come over and sit by him. I sat down next to him and we started to talk about who I was and where I am.
Through the conversation I went through three stages first confusion, then shock, then back to confusion. By the time he had finished all the things that had happened to you over the years finally made sense, why I always caused mysterious accidents why I was such a freak. I learned I was a demigod, and that I am unclaimed, meaning we don't know who my parent is, but I have a suspicion who it might be and I suspect Chiron does to. I learned that my father as it turns out probably did not want to leave, but he had to. I also learned that Justin was a monster and that as time goes by I should be able to recognize them a lot easier as the mist will not effect me as much. Chiron explained the mist to be this magical veil that hides demigods, monsters, and the rest of the godly world from the mortal and the reason I could not see through it is I did not know who I was and my powers were not as developed as they are now.
After Chiron and I finished speaking he called Aspen back. Aspen arrived quickly saying, "Are you ready to go? We are going to sword fighting lessons."
"Sword fighting lessons? You seriously do that?"
"Of course, how else would we fight the monsters?"
"Oh yeah, monsters."
"We are about to head to sword fighting, but first we should get you a weapon," he said with a smug grin on his face, that reminded me of Maya when she was doing something that would get her in trouble. Suddenly after thinking about her, I realized I had not seen her since we arrived.
"Hey Aspen, do you know where Maya is?" I inquired.
"Maya she is your friend with the gold hair that arrived with you, correct?"
"Yep, that would be Maya."
"Well you are in luck, she happens to be going to sword fighting right now too. She has been touring camp with my friend Alex, son of Hephaestus."
