I Thought That Was Obvious

So after sword fighting Aspen sent Maya and I off with Alex to go meet our cabin mates. Alex leads us down toward the group of buildings that are apparently cabins and leads us to the eleventh cabin. "Here we are, this would be your cabin, at least for now, but all your cabin mates are in there getting ready for dinner so I would hurry and introduce myself."

"What did you mean by only temporarily being our cabin?" Maya asked.

"I mean your parents have not claimed you, but they should claim you soon, and this is where you stay until you are claimed and if you are claimed you move unless Hermes is your father then you would stay."

"And how will we know they are claiming us?" she asked.

"Well, you will get a symbol glowing over your head, your parents symbol, or if you are a daughter of Aphrodite you glow pink and get her blessing."

"Shouldn't I be concerned if I start glowing, because I am pretty sure glowing is not normal." I said sarcastically.

"Ailee, SHUT UP, this is serious not everything is a joke."

"Okay," I said unintentionally hurt sounding, "well, we should probably head inside." I walked inside the cabin.

"Bye," I heard Maya say to Alex behind me.

When we walked in everyone's eyes locked on us, except for two boys in the back who were walking around pretending to be retarded dinosaurs, while squawking like a chicken. Suddenly an older boy walked over and jabbed one of the boys hard in the ribs saying, "Don't mind these too, They are IDIOTS," he said as he kicked the other in the gut. "I am Brennan Mite, son of Hermes, cabin counselor. I am the person you come to with any and all problems, and I am also the person you come to if you need me to kick some one's butt." He stated while glaring at the two boys.

"And I am Nicholas Steiner, and this is my brother Andrew." He said while pulling Andrew up by the collar of his shirt.

"I prefer Andy," Andy said, "We are the trouble makers if cabin eleven at your service, we are the replacements of our uncles Connor and Travis, who have parted ways with the camp, they are now living normal lives in the mortal world" He said while taking a very exaggerated and obnoxious bow.

"So before we go to dinner we should get you in your own camp shirts," Brennan said. He handed us each a bag and we looked inside, the bags contained 2 camp t-shirts, a pair of jeans, sneakers, and toiletries and also a few gold coins. I pulled one of the coins out and I must have had a confused look on my face because Brennan said, "That is a Drachma, a Greek coin, we always start our campers off with a few just in case."

"Where should we put our stuff," I asked.

"They go in the spot you will be sleeping."

"And where would that be?"

"Any open spot on the floor, you grab a sleeping bag from over there, a pillow from over there and find an open space, it is like every man for himself in here. Because..." He started to fade off into mumbling, he was saying something about how if people would get claimed that would help.

"The floor?" Maya asked in a clearly irritated voice.

"Yep, no room anywhere else all the beds have two people each and almost all the floor is taken, if not all."

"So can I just grab stuff and set it out?" I asked.

"Not quite yet, we have a system so that everyone has a fair chance of getting to lay down on the floor. I am going to count to three and everyone without a bed is going to race to get their things and set them out. The two people who don't get a space get to sleep in the shower together. Completely fair."

"One," he started.

"Are you seri-" I was cut off by people pushing past me and yelling. Turns out he was dead serious. Maya and I bolt over to the pile of pillows and get one quickly. Well, that was not that bad, I was thinking after grabbing a pillow, then I started to head toward the sleeping bags and realized I was wrong. It was worse than I thought it would be. It was like world war III had just broken out over pillows and sleeping bags. There were people everywhere and lots of loud noises that sounded very painful. People were tackling each other, and diving for spaces. There were feathers and bits of fabric everywhere, I don't think a single sleeping bag or pillow was still in one piece.

I finally got a sleeping bag and notice there aren't many spaces left. I see a place and dive for it. Turns out someone else had the same idea, a girl named Charlotte Marksman. We tackled each other and fought over the spot for ten minutes before Brennan stopped us. "You guys seem very enthusiastic, but this could go on forever, so I have decided you will duel for it. Whoever loses will be sharing the shower with Mickey tonight."

I talked to Maya and Mickey as I prepared for my duel with Charlotte. Mickey was a short girl around 14 with light brown skin, black hair and brown eyes. She was beautiful in a delicate way. "You can beat her." She said to me.

"And what makes you think that?" I questioned her.

"I was here earlier when you fought Aspen and he was our best swordsman."

"That was Beginner's luck."

"Well, I sure didn't get beginner's luck, I almost killed myself trying to fight with those swords," Maya commented, "You, Ailee, were born to fight and it was not just beginner's luck, you looked like you had had years of training an  practice, you were born with those skillz."

"Yes, I know I was born with skillz. More skills then you can imagine, but not word skills."

"Well, now will be the. you find out if that was just beginner's luck or not."

When the duel first started I think she was trying to go easy on me because I was new, but she soon gave up on that realizing I was better than she thought. Soon I became more concentrated and started to fight better, I was suddenly looking good again and I couldn't help but smile when I saw the look of confusion on Charlotte' s face when she saw how good I was with a sword. In they end I beat Charlotte, and turned out Maya was right, I did have skillz.

After the duel, I put away my gear and turned my sword back into my necklace (a handy trick Aspen showed me) and headed to dinner. At dinner Maya and I sat with Nick and Andy. The whole of dinner they made jokes about literally everything. And now we have a joke that will last forever and they will never let me forget about lactose intolerant cows, all-you-can-eat buffets, and Brennan.

In the middle of dinner people started staring at me and I could not figure out why. And then I realized I was glowing. Well, I was not glowing but above there was a symbol of a trident that was bathing me in its bluish green glow. Soon the man sitting at the table next to Chiron, Dionysus, stood up and said, "Children of Poseidon please welcome your newest sibling, Annie."

"My name is Ailee, not Annie."

"Well whatever, but you are a daughter of Poseidon, god of the sea."

"Wasn't that pretty obvious, I mean when I first came I told you I had many incidents with water like being able to breathe underwater and blowing up several toilets in kindergarten."

"It may seem obvious, but we can never be sure. Anyway you need to move over to your proper table, IMMEDIATELY."

I quickly moved over to the Poseidon table, expecting it to be as full as the Hermes, but when I sat down I realized there were only two kids there. When I sat down they started introducing themselves.

"Hi Ailee, I am Azalea Moore, your half sister." said the girl sitting across from me.

"And I am Asher, Azalea' s brother and your half brother." said the boy sitting next to Azalea.

Asher was a tall lanky boy with pale skin. Both Azalea and Asher have dark hair like mine and sea green eyes. Asher' s hair is close cropped and Azalea' s is long and reaches all the way to her knees. Azalea also wears a pair of glasses.
