It's just a game. It's just a game.

Jyn breathed heavily. She found the hiding spot but it was hard to pretend it was just a game now.

Stardust, let's play a game. Do you see the pile of rocks over there? Run as fast as you can to them. Go!

Jyn pulled open the hatch cover hidden in the hillside with all her might. Inside was a ladder leading to the lower compartment and there she would find provisions of food, clothing, and containers.

She should have climbed down the ladder right away, but Jyn stayed by the hatch cover and yanked it shut. A thin, silver light shone through a crack and illuminated the darkness. She smelled smoke.

She heard loud noises above her and saw the shapes of troopers moving among the rocks and high grass. They went back and forth several times never noticing the hidden hatch. When the light began to fade and the troopers left, Jyn climbed down the ladder.

The lower compartment was small and cramped because of the provisions but had enough room to sit.

Jyn found a lantern and stared into its light. Jyn pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Her tears were steadily falling now. All she had to do was wait. That is what she was told to do when she was in her hiding spot.

She sang one of the songs her mother used to sing to her at bedtime on Coruscant, rocking her tiny body back and forth, ignoring her tears and muddied clothes.

Mama or Papa will come for me soon.

Jyn's eyes drooped as she listened to the raging storm outside. Raindrops splashed into the cave, falling onto her forehead.

Mama and Papa are not coming for me.
