My face was covered in crimson as I watched Ace leave the small cafe. I wanted nothing more than to just curl into a ball of self pity and disappear away from my brothers prying eyes.
"What was that about?" He asked as he handed me a knowing smirk.
"It's not true." I quickly told him.
I don't want him thinking something he shouldn't, I know how he gets.
"What's not true?" He replied while his lips stretched into a wicked smirk.
"I'm not with him." I said sharply.
My eyes wondered off from his face and down to the mug in front of me, allowing my fingers to dance over the rim."I don't care if you are, but my question is, why him? Out of all the men in the state, hell in the world, why Ace Gomez? The billionaire club owner, biggest bachelor in state?" He pried on, his eyes scrutinizing my every move.
"I'm not with him and I'm not going to be!" I snapped at him.
He raised his hands in surrender before looking back into my eyes.
"How do you know him then?" He quizzed cooly.
"He's my neighbor and my boss." I huffed out while placing my chin on the soft palm of my hand.
"What work could you possibly do for a man like him?" He asked on, leaning forward on the table.
"I'm his personal assistant." I stated proudly as I smirked at my brother.
"Are you having a laugh? Have you not seen half of the big business men in the world? They end up with their PA's. You've really set yourself up for this one haven't you?" He pushed, his tone turned to one an incredulous man would use.
"Well I'm not like that. I just needed a job and if I'm a PA for him, it has to be good pay. In four days I'm seventeen. I live alone. I need some kind of income. He offered, I accepted. Deal with it." I spat at him, he was really starting to irritate me.
"No, you deal with it. That man, wants you. If it's for a decent fuck or to be with him, I don't know. But if I know anything about that man, he gets what he wants. If you need anything, I'm always here baby sis." He said as he gave me a warm smile towards the end.
"I'm here for you as well big bro." I smiled at him as I took a sip from my warm coco.
"Ummm you know I hate to involve you in the family business, but I really need help." He stuttered nervously as he rubbed the back if his neck.
I gulped for a second and all my movements stilled.
"What do you need?" I questioned as I sat up straight.
"I need you to do one of the underground fights tonight, I know your a really good fighter so it won't take much to win. Please, do it for me."
He pleaded, his eyes told me a different story to what his mouth was though, he was desperate, yes, but he was also reluctant.Kent had always hated the thought of me being hurt, it was a natural instinct for him to protect me. I never really understood why, but with the life we live, it must have conditioned him into it. Into nervous habits. Tics when he lies. Protective. Possessive.
