I stopped my car, and got out and walked into the house. Mike was in front of the TV with Nathan. I liked to call him Nate. More shorter. He tried to ask me out once but I never got back to him.

"Hey babe. Why the long face?" I looked at Nate.

"Nate, don't call me that please. Mike have you got any assignments for me?" He hopped up and went to the kitchen for his laptop.

I followed him then he spoke, "Yeah, I have this major one for

you. It's like a palace. A huge mansion. 2 vampire guards at every door, highly guarded.

But that never stopped you."

"So how do I get in?" I asked looking on this Google map he took out from the cabinet.

"Jess, before I give you any more info, I need to ask you this," I looked at him waiting for the

question to be asked.

"Are you sure you want to do this? You might never come back. And I don't want to lose the person who has been there for me my entire life."

I just stared at him. I saw that he was sincere and honest. I knew the consequences when I

stepped into any fight. I might not live but that hasn't stopped me.

"Mike I accept my fate. Plus you know you'll see me again." I said smiling. He wasn't exactly

convinced.

Mike's POV

I'm not convinced about this. Neither sure.

"Jess.." I said in a softer tone. What will she think about me when she finds out that I love

her.

"Mike, I'll be fine okay." She tried reassuring me.

I pulled out another map. "Here... You'll enter at the west wing. There's a back door there.

Nobody will see you sneaking in or out. Once you've killed the queen/king. The whole castle

will fall eventually. Don't get caught. It'll end badly for you."

I could hear my voice shaking.

"Mike! Stop doing that. I'm not going to die." I stopped looking at her, afraid of what they might do to her.

I smiled that screw smile then said, "I'll be there every step of the way."

"When do I leave?" She asked straight to the point. She had that confidence in her that I

knew will get her killed.

"In three days," she looked at me. I was nothing to her but a friend, a good friend and nothing more. This made me angry. Not at her, but at myself. I blamed myself for not telling her how I felt about her a long time ago.

"You still never told me what happened to you." I glanced over at Nate then back at her. She

clasped her hands together and placed them on her lap.

"I don't remember much. I was driving on the highway. I saw this little girl standing in the

middle of the road. I turned the car and started rolling down hill. I crawled out from under the

car. I couldn't see anything, but I saw Markus. After blacking out I was tied down in their basement. He really pissed me off. They brought me upstairs and that's when I saw... saw-s,"
