Chapter 21: New Threat

I sat in my apartment, and it was late.

I never could sleep anymore- the nightmares were ten times worse now.

I practically was a shut in.

I heard my phone ring and I picked it up.

"Hello?"

"It's Derek."

I was silent.

"I thought you should know. The Argents have declared war on all werewolves. No matter if they are clean of blood or not. I need a pack, and I have someone. I'd need help watching him."

I rubbed my forehead and sighed.

"Alright, if you know what you're doing."

"I do."

"Okay."

He gave me his address and then hung up.

"I hope so.." I whispered.

I got dressed and headed out in the pouring rain watching from across the street.

When he came running out of his house, jumping on his bike and speeding off I followed.

Derek really better know what he's doing.

I ran after him, going a block ahead and cutting him off.

"Isaac," I said, holding up my hand, stopping him. "I'm a friend of Derek's. You can trust me. What's going on?" I asked.

"It's my dad."

I looked behind him and no one was there yet.
"Come here," I said, wrapping my arm around his waist and found a corner alleyway, finding a spot that was covering us from the rain.

"You're okay," I said.

Isaac looked around, nervous.

"Who are you?" He asked.

"Elizabeth."

"Are you like me and Derek?"

"Yes."

I heard screams and I jumped and guarded Isaac.

When the screams ended I cautiously turned the corner and walked down to see what was going on.

I saw blood and Isaac's dad, dead.

Isaac stopped behind me. He didn't say anything.

"We need Derek..." I said.

Whatever killed Isaac's dad was not a werewolf, which meant there was a threat in this town. 

We ran down to the abandoned subway.

"Derek! Derek!" Isaac yelled.

"What's wrong?" Derek asked.

"It's my dad- something happened."

"What did you do?"

"He didn't do it," I said. "He was with me- something else did this... something vicious and brutal and... terrible.
