Derek left that morning and I had Jesse come over to watch the kids. Jesse didn't mind as she had been wanting to keep a little busy since her boyfriend was still in the hospital.
At first I wasn't going to, but then before I knew it I was there.
I walked up to the door and knocked and the door opened.
"Hey," Parrish said.
He let me in and I stood there.
"Did Scott send you? Does he know what I am?"
I shook my head. "No, I just wanted to make sure you're doing okay."
"Oh," he said, slightly surprised.
"You were almost murdered and you found out you're supernatural."
"Yeah, it feels like a dream. Or a nightmare, I can't decide which. How did it feel for you?"
I lightly laughed. "It felt like I was in a storybook."
"Does it ever feel normal?" He asked as we sat down.
"No, but you get used to it. You do have some normal days though, just not like before."
"Are you okay? You look like you haven't slept in days."
I leaned closer to him. He looked a little cautious, but he didn't move back.
"Why did you think it was not safe for me to go to the school that night?"
"Because there was an assassin possibly running around."
"It only would've mattered if I had gotten hurt. But you made it a point to worry and let me know."
I quickly kissed him, straddling his waist.
He kissed me back, cupping my face. I kissed his neck, running my hands up and down his chest, yearning for someone to want me. His hands wondered for a moment before he pushed me off him and stood up.
"We can't do this, you're married with three kids!"
I had wanted to fill the hole that had formed but now it only felt bigger.
I quickly stood up and straightened my clothes.
"No you're right. Just forget this happened. I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking."
I started to walk away but he grabbed my hand.
I looked at him and he stared at me and then looked at the door.
"You don't have to leave..." he whispered, his eyes wanting.
I could do it. I could stay. I could have his hands all over me and my name on his lips. We both wanted it didn't we?
I shook my head. "It was a mistake. I'm sorry. I'm married to Derek and you're not him. My heart belongs to Derek and only him."
Parrish nodded, and I ignored the look of defeat on his face.
"Can I ask a favor? Please don't tell Derek... this won't happen again."
"For Derek's sake I won't say anything. Not yours."
I nodded at him. "Thank you."
"He's a lucky man."
I walked out and I got into my car and cried.
I could pretend all I wanted but he wasn't Derek. He didn't pull me close when I kissed his neck like Derek did, he didn't feel or taste like Derek.
I wanted Derek.
I drove to an old ice cream shop where Derek and I had gone after getting married.
I walked in and smiled seeing Georgina, the owner.
"Hello Elizabeth! It's been awhile since I've seen you."
"Yeah, it's been awhile."
"Where's Derek?"
"He's busy with work."
"Shame."
I softly smiled and sat down and she gave me my favorite hot chocolate mint shake.
I had sat at this very seat when Derek and I had come right after saying I do.
It seemed like a lifetime ago.
I noticed the place wasn't too busy, only a young couple sitting there and laughing.
What it was like to be first in love again.
I finished my shake as Georgiana came and sat down.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, patting my hand.
"What?" I asked, confused.
I then felt a burning sensation. I threw up black blood all over the floor and looked at her.
"How? Why?" I gasped, the glass shattering on the floor.
I quickly stood up, trying to not let my vision blur.
I ran out into the woods.
I was leaning purely on adrenaline.
I ran across the road as cars honked at me and I continued into the woods.
I finally stopped, I couldn't go on.
I felt like my body was on fire.
I called Derek but he didn't answer.
I felt someone kick my back and I fell forward.
I saw it had been the young couple in the shop.
I got up and tried to fight.
I clawed the woman and turned to face the man when I stopped.
I fell to my knees as he pulled the ax out of my stomach.
I gasped as I fell, I barely saw anything other than blood. So much blood.
Surprisingly it didn't hurt. Maybe the Wolfsbane numbing my body was a relief.
I saw darkness consume me as my head hit the ground.
