First of all, I am currently working on Chapter 21, and it should be up at some point this weekend (i work the next 4 days straight so like, it's a process). But I feel like I need to address some things, that maybe I should have addressed from the beginning.

If you didn't know, I also publish this story on fanfiction.net simply because I enjoy sharing the joy of creating our own headcannons with the world. I feel like that's one of the best parts of writing fan fiction. That being said, I am very aware that when it comes to Girl Meets World, we all somewhat agree to disagree about how the show was carried out, how it ended, the character development, the network decisions, etc.

This show is in fact a Disney Channel series, targeted mostly towards preteens (should have been an ABC or Freeform show). However, a fairly large percentage of the people who watched this show were in high school, or college (mostly for nostalgia purposes). I was 15, almost 16 when GMW premiered and I was almost 18 when I started writing this book in 2016 (honestly, I should been done writing it by now, but I'm a heavy procrastinator, but I'm determined to finish at least one story on here).

As someone who grew up watching Boy Meets World (in syndication of course), and as someone whose guilty pleasure show is Degrassi. I think it's quite telling in my writing style that I am someone who lives for teen dramas. Of course we all love a good sitcom, where nothing bad ever happens, but sometimes we need that element of suspense. So what did I do? I took Girl Meets World, aged the characters up about two years from the ending of season 3, and placed them in a Degrassi like world, where the good girl is a bit of a bitch, the pretty boy isn't a surface level perfect guy, and the prototypical bad girl, isn't all that bad. I have attached a screenshot of the comment that was left, and I just want to address some issues, not to attack the person who left the comment, but just to maybe clear some air in case anyone else feels the same way.

First and foremost, I want to make it extremely clear, that in no way am I trying to romanticize the current state of where Maya and Lucas are in their relationship. I try to be very careful when I'm writing to make sure I am not making it seem like the way that Lucas treated Maya at the beginning of the story is okay, or appropriate in any way.

I really want to make this clear, because this is a story that is based on a show aimed at young girls, an if they're anything like I was when I was 12 and 13, they are probably reading questionably fan fiction that they probably shouldn't and no amount of M ratings are going to change that.

Lucas knows that he's being a jerk, everyone thinks Lucas needs to chill out, even though they don't know why he's acting that way. And if you pay attention, it's very subtle that even though Riley is super into Lucas, not even she is willing to put up with his shit, and Maya is very hesitant with everything she does with him, because she knows how he is. Even Josh doesn't like the way he treats her.

This person made a comment about there being a point, and questioned the character development, as well as staying true to the original characters.
