› CHAPTER NINETEEN ‹

To say Raleigh had a tough time focusing in school those next two days would be an understatement. Many of his teachers had noticed the sluggish and distracted behavior and pulled him aside at the end of their classes to discuss his performance. All of them had heard about him leaving school early the other day and not coming back and believed that was the beginning of some sort of breakdown from him. He had promised them that he would get himself together before the next class, but then he would go and get stuck in his thoughts again in his next class.

In physics, Ned had noted the change in Raleigh. He had questioned him during the class, but Raleigh had waved his concern off of him and claimed he was just upset about what happened with Mr. Stark. It wasn't exactly a lie, but it was an easy enough statement to pass with since Peter was going through the same thing, so Ned had no reason to not believe him. Though lying to his friend had left a sour taste in his mouth.

He just wasn't sure if he could share the news that he may be Loki's son—the same Loki that nearly succeeded in destroying New York City—and that he may have Odin, the King of Asgard, in his apartment. He didn't think he was ready to share that information, especially since he didn't exactly believe it himself. He was stuck in a tough situation, which he found ironic because all he wanted was to depress his panic after the Tony Stark incident, but he was now more tired and overworked than ever. Dropping Robotics had done nothing, but give him more time to overthink everything.

He couldn't rest, especially when he was meeting with the world leading astrophysicist in a small diner in Queens.

Trystan sat beside him sipping nervously at his Coke while Raleigh munched on some chips, feeling himself grow nauseous after the first bowl. The two were extremely nervous, anyone could see that in the diner, but they weren't nervous about meeting the famous woman, but to learn the truth about who the man in their apartment is.

They sat in silence listening for the bell above the door to ding, and every time they heard it their heads would fly in that direction until they realized it wasn't the woman they were looking for and slump back into their booth. The same routine went on for the next ten minutes until the bell dinged once more.

Raleigh and Trystan faced the door and tensed up seeing the familiar young brunette woman walking through the diner door. She had her hair up in a loose ponytail and was wearing a black jacket over a plaid shirt and a pair of jeans. She had a phone to pulled to her ear and was exasperatedly saying something to the other person on the line as she glanced around the small diner. They stood up, helping the astronomer locate the two she was searching for. As she noticed them, she said one last thing to her phone, before hanging up and making her way towards the adult and teenager.

"Trystan Dagher?" She questioned, looking at the brunet male. He nodded. She smiled stiffly and held out her hand. "Jane Foster."

He shook it and then introduced himself and Raleigh. At the introduction of Raleigh, Jane narrowed her eyes on the boy, seemingly examining him, before she smiled warmly and took the opposite side of the booth. The two sat back down.
