“Eraser-San, Mic-San, what if I d-don't want to go with Tsukauchi-San?” The small girl asked nervously from the back seat, her large red eyes wide and anxious as her white pupils looked up into the rearview mirror of the car, seeing the reflections of her heroes staring right back at her.

“Can't I just stay with you?”

Hizashi's thin, shaking hands were clutched around the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles were white, his emerald green eyes focused numbly on the road as it rushed by them, Aizawa sitting stiffly beside him, his hair pulled back into a messy ponytail and his body shaking slightly as he tore his view away from the window to face the girl in the back seat, who sat there twisting the knee length hem of her dusty blue jumper, periwinkle boots scuffing the grey leather absently.

Aizawa felt his chest tighten, a lump in his throat at the thought of saying goodbye.

The raven haired man did his best to smile at her, failing miserably as he looked down at the ground, swallowing loudly.

“It doesn't work like that Eri...”

“D-Do you and M-Mic-San not want me anymore...?” The girl sniffed, her pretty red eyes already swimming with tears. “I-Is it because I b-broke the plate this morning? I-I'm sorry, I-I'll fix it! Please don't send me away!”

Hizashi gulped, his hands tightening around the wheel as her cry reached his ears, looking up at her in the rearview.

“N-No Sunshine, that's not what's going on! Shota and I love you, and we want you to stay with us, but....but you need to be with your family, Eri....”

“But I don't want to go! Wh-what....What if their mean....?” She asked softly, a scared edge to her small voice that made both Hizashi and Aizawa gulp, remembering the bandages and filth that had covered the child they had grown so attached too, afraid to send her back to something that could end the same way it started.

Hands shaking, Hizashi coasted into the parking lot, the brick outside of the police station looming above them as he cut the engine and turned to look at Aizawa for support, who simply shook his head with a shaky sigh. The blond gulped and, together, the two heartbroken heroes pushed open their doors and scooped Eri out of the car, the girl holding tightly to both of their hands as they led her up the steps, getting closer and closer to goodbye.

They found the astute detective waiting for them at the doors.

“Present Mic, EraserHead, I'm glad you could make it.” Naomasa Tsukauchi greeted, his hands in the pockets of his long brown coat and a sad smile on his face when he saw the two heroes' expressions, leaning down and tipping his fedora to Eri with a kind look. “I'm glad your here too, Eri. Have Mr. Aizawa and Mr. Yamada taken good care of you?”

Eri nodded, her small voice shaking.

“Y-Yes Sir, Tsukauchi-San...”

“Heh, no need to be so formal, Eri. Please, call me Naomasa.” The detective stated with a wink, giving the girl a good natured smile as he straightened out, fixing his hat. “Well, no need to wait out here. Let's get down to business...”

Aizawa and Hizashi nodded glumly, Tsukauchi pushing open the door and leading the group into the bustling police station. They brushed past officers and other staff before branching off into a hallway, Tsukauchi leading them to his office and turning around to face them, motioning to the row of chairs that sat across from the door.

“Sorry, Eri, but would you mind waiting out here for a bit? I need to talk to Mr. Yamada and Mr. Aizawa for a moment. It won't take to long, I promise.”
