He gasped in shock and surprise as he whirled on his heel, the sudden, high pitched, almost blood curdling scream that pierced the night stopping the blond male dead in his tracks, the paper-plastic handles of his grocery bags sliding out of his hands and hitting the cold cement with a thud, taking off at a run as adrenaline fueled instinct kicked in, hazing his mind. All he could hear were sirens, gunshots, the rush of wind in his ears and the sound of rushed breathing, his footsteps pounding against the sidewalk harshly as he ran harder an harder, his lungs screaming for breath, still slightly gelled hair coming loose from the hair tie as he gulped down breath after desperate breath, struggling to fuel his panicked sprint, his imagination convincing his almost numb senses that he could feel the carbon dioxide reaching an acidic peak in his blood, sharp pain stabbing through his lungs and diaphragm, unable to catch his breath, his body unresponsive as he tried to stop, tears stinging his eyes when he found he couldn't, gasping as his vision went fuzzy, sheer, unbridled terror clawing at his chest and mind, icy cold steeling into his bones, unsure why he felt like this.
His muscles were screaming, his footsteps becoming unsteady and barely able to support him as saliva poured out of his mouth in clear rivulets, his clothes drenched in icy cold sweat, vision stained with black and white stars as his knees gave out from beneath him, sending him sprawling to the cold pavement face first, his arms and shoulders shaking as he felt the acidic tang crawl up his throat, his stomach clenching as he retched against the pavement, coughing up red metal mixed with salt and saliva. He felt dizzy, gasping for breath as he collapsed to the cement, unable to move and his lungs screaming for air, his eyes unfocused and dazed with from the pain and growing asphyxiation, the terror gripping his chest again as he heard the sudden, taunting tap of worn shoes against the sidewalk, growing closer and closer with every chocked and desperate breath his took, his instincts shrieking for him to run from them and never stop, but incapable of movement as a raspy chuckle came from above him, his pins and needles pricked body being shoved by a foot so that he was on his back, looking up at the shadow looming over him, a rough pressure growing against the skin of his throat.
"You never learn, do you Zashi~?" The voice taunted, chuckling evilly as they ran a hand through their mop of feathery black hair, a smirk on their unshaven face and a glint in their black eyes as they looked down into the terrified green of the gasping blond, leaning their foot against his throat and watching as he gagged, whimpering and clawing weakly at their ankles, crying out for air.
"Idiot, do you really think struggling will help?" They sneered, each word laced with sinister amusement as the pressure grew, sighing quietly. "Why do you have to get yourself into these situations, Zashi? It's disappointing to know a hero that's supposed to protect others can't even save himself. It's pathetic."
The blond cried out in pain and fear as the figure smashed their heel into his adam's apple, blood gushing through his teeth and running down his chin, pooling hot and sticky in his clothes as the figure walked away, his vision slowly fading to red as he reached for them, the terror growing to a shocking level as he gasped for air, coughing up more and more of the scarlet fluid as his fingers reached out through the darkness, his heart pounding harder and faster as his life soaked into the pavement, bloody tears leaking down from his eyes.
Red matted his long blond hair and ran into the corners of his mouth, tasting the salty metal tang on his tongue, choking on the blood in his mouth while he gasped for air, his crushed throat burning as his strength left him, his body sinking to the pavement as more and more red pooled around him. He whimpered, rusty salt and metal trails leaking from the corner of his mouth as his eyes dimmed, his lungs screaming for air and stars scattered in his vision, reaching out for the fading footsteps desperately.
