The large bed where he lay, curled into the protective lure of the covers, felt cold and empty, as he twisted slightly, reaching instinctively out for the soft, loving earth that radiated from the usually occupied space there beside him, his teary, aching eyes shooting open when he felt nothing but cold unforgiving air, temporarily stunned into silence as the scenery of his cramped, lonely bedroom swam into focus, the pale and icy bands of weak, greying sunlight pouring in from little cracks in the curtains alerting him to it being at least an hour before sunrise, but the early rise was not what bothered him, nor the splitting headache, or the lingering sleep-pain that coursed through him.
It was because he was sleeping alone.
Aizawa knew Hizashi's sleep schedule well by now, and considering today was Sunday, the blond preferred to stay in bed with him till at least 9:00 am....
He's never up this early....
The small man gulped, shutting his eyes tightly as he gripped the sheets around him tighter, his still sleep numb body shaking slightly, burying his face in the cold, empty fabric that still held tight to the lingering aroma of hair gel, shampoo, and faded cologne, Hizashi's usual mix, which only made the pain worse.
Was i dreaming...?
Did he not really come home last night?
Aizawa couldn't bear the thought that last night he had simply crawled in bed himself, most likely drunk on tears and lukewarm liquor, still in a devastated blur of exhausted regrets, Hizashi coming home to him, holding him, comforting him, all of it was a sick figment of his imagination, and he was sleeping alone, like he had spent so much of his time, but now, he didn't even have the strange cats that followed him home to keep him company.
The cats always left eventually, but he hadn't expected Hizashi to abandon him too.....
'I'm such an idiot....' Aizawa thought to himself as he gulped and buried in face deeper into the blanket, his expression one of bored indifference to hide the mute disappointment and sorrow that now rocked his body, eyes closed tight against the cold reality that manifested itself as his lonely bedroom, the thin cracks of grey sunlight falling across the bed that now felt far to big for just one person...
The alley cat's bruised and bloodshot eyes snapped wide, exhaling a sharp gasp of stunned surprise, hearing the floorboards outside the door creak and groan under someone's weight, a shuffling, set of sock feet, padding past his door, down the hallway, and through the living room doorway, the distant crunch of glass alerting him to someone occupying his living room.
His disheveled head jerked up, his shoulders following as his arms locking into a state of tensed readiness that cleared the fogginess in his aching head slightly as he sat up on his knees, shedding his protective cocoon of warm bedsheets and throwing himself roughly out onto the floor, his bare feet muffled, onyx eyes narrowed, his still numb fingers shaking only a slight bit as he curled them around the handle and twisted, the door gliding open with barely a sound.
“Damn g-glass...” He heard a cracked, ragged voice whisper from the living room, the strong scent of fresh coffee wafting past him as he stepped out of the dark and empty hallway in a sort of confused haze, his hands caressing the sharp edge of the kitchen doorframe, his breath gushing out as a muted gasp of surprised, overwhelming relief, bruised black eyes locked on the silky mess of blond strands that cascaded down the back of a tall, lanky body dressed in a soft, baggy red T-shirt, too long black sweatpants rolled up to reveal a pair of thin, white socked feet, their hands and shoulders shaking as they hunched over the wastebin in the corner, a broom held in one hand and dustpan full of glassy shrapnel in the other, oblivious to the man watching him, until Aizawa gulped, his voice gravelly and having a ragged scrape to it, that caught him off gaurd.
