The Scent of Yours

I was sitting on the rock eating what was left from the arms of an Athenian guy and enjoying the fresh air that hit my face coming through the streets of the labyrinth.

Thinking that I was running out of food and waiting for tomorrow when fourteen more Athenians would be sent here to me. I threw the remaining bones of the said arm on the ground when it hit me again .
This smell , this toxic and hypnotizing smell .

Hmmmmm

I closed my eyes just savouring this moment I live for . This scent of sweet pea, a flower that has a strong sweet smell and is found here in Mediterranean regions , traveling with the wind to my nostrils.

I could feel my pupils dilated, my heart skipping more than a beat and my lungs tighten, struggling and begging for oxygen. But I would sacrifice myself and die from lack of oxygen just to have my last breath inhaled by that sweet smell.

I could hear my half-sister's, Ariadne , giggles and blabber but her scent was nothing like that sweet delicious thing. Her scent was like ocean , salty . I shut her out as I tried to focus on my flower.

Since I can remember myself , I was utterly in love with this scent . I didn't know how she looked or what she was like . The walls of the maze were too high , and not many people dared to approach the gates of the entrance.

I would do anything just to see her, feel her , I would stop eating humans for her , even though I would die because I could only eat humans for sustenance. But I didn't care , as long as my last moments would be having her in my arms.

I knew I was an unnatural creature, I wasn't a human. I was created to suffer just because of a mistake the King of Crete, Minos , did.

I was a revenge from the gods.

I was a monster

But I would fight for her.
I knew there was a chance, a really small one , that she would accept me for who I am . That she would maybe like me . Even if she just stands me , tolerates me being near her and not freak out and scream at the sight of me I would be ecstatic.

I was just dreaming every night of her scent and hoped that maybe there was a chance for her to love me too .

My flower,
I had a feeling we would meet really soon .
Just wait for me .

And that's how I fell asleep , thinking of her and smiling to myself.

When she was on my mind there was no space for anyone else. She occupied my mind for hours making my days brighter and my life meaningful . I forgot that I'm trapped in a labyrinth.
I forgot what my appearance was like. I even forgot to eat .

There was nothing but her .

I woke up to a noise coming from the start of the maze . I knew the time had come . The time of the year that 7 young men and seven young women were sent here from Athens sacrificing their lives for the sake of their motherland.

Feeling too lazy today I let them roam through the unknown for them maze as I laid there still thinking of my love.

I knew this maze like the back of my hand , so I wasn't worried not finding them to the last one to devour them .

The noises were too loud though .
It was unusual to hear such angry voices.

The curiosity took the best of me and I got up from my spot to go and find out what made them so rebellious.

As I was approaching them and the voices got even louder I heard a manly voice calling for me .

I furrowed my brows feeling a little lost and threatened I growled loudly to scare them and make them shut up but the voices continued.

"Minotaurus! Come here and face me ! I am Theseus , son of the King of Athens, Aegeus ! I dare you to face me MONSTER!!!"
The manly voice shouted and I heard a sword being pulled out of its case.

I growled again and made angry and loud noises to scare him away but he would back off.

Feeling frustrated and furious that he dared to disturb my peace I run to meet this so called Theseus who obviously came here to kill me.

But why? Why everyone saw me as a threat? Why did they keep calling me a monster?
What did I do to deserve this kind of behavior?

I was forced to this world as a revenge to the King , I was forced to eat humans to survive. I didn't specifically choose to eat Athenians.
Minos forced this on me as a punishment to Athenians for killing his son.
Why did everyone come after me when I was just a victim here?

Everyone tried to kill me and show the world their power .
Which is ridiculous if you ask me !
If you want to show your power go fight with the Gods not some pure creatures that did nothing wrong .

I didn't even know this guy .

I was ready to attack him and gulp him in heartbeat but before I could do anything I felt him stick his sword in my chest .

I screamed in pain and fell down trying to pull the sharp object out of me .

I didn't pay him any attention as I thought I would heal myself and then go after him . He is trapped here for life anyway. Noone could find the exit to this labyrinth.

The pain was agonizing and blood was dripping nonstop from my wound . My vision was becoming a blur and the last thing I saw was Theseus guy following a ball of thread out of the maze leading the rest of the humans that came with him .

Before darkness overtook me I realized one thing.

It smelled like ocean .
