Imhotep's Chamber - DayEvy's hand slips the key into the sarcophagus, lock and turns it. A series of strange mechanical-like sounds are heard, and then the sarcophagus unlocks with a giant hiss. Evy and Jonathan all look very, very hungover. Maggie rolls her eyes at her siblings, grateful that Rick decided not to drink too.
They start to slide the heavy lid off the sarcophagus. Pushing, shoving, and groaning, the lid budging, inch by inch, "I can't believe I allowed the two of you to get me drunk." Evy starts glancing at the men and women pushing.
Jonathan looks to her, "Don't blame me, I don't even remember being there."
Evy glares at him, "well neither do I, thank you." She looks over to Rick and Maggie, "Why didn't you two stop me?" She questions.
Maggie and Rick look over at the woman, "She doesn't drink, I don't drink" Rick explains to Evy.
Maggie looks over to her sister, "You're an independent woman, you can make your own choices." She also explains to Evy. Evy glares at her.
The lid falls off and loudly crashes to the ground. Jonathan and Evy instantly grab their sore heads and moan. They pull out the wooded coffin from inside the stone sarcophagus. Evy practically squeals in excitement, "Oh my god, love dreamed about this ever since I was a little girl."
Rick smirks at her, "You dream about dead guys?" He teases.
Maggie joins in, "Evy, I seriously question your mental health."
Evy gives them both a look as they lightly laugh at her. She then starts brushing dirt and cobwebs off the top of the coffin. Then she freezes, "Look, all the sacred spells have been chiseled off. The hieratics and hieroglyphs that protect the deceased on his journey into the afterlife, they've been removed. This man was cursed, ....doomed." Maggie comes over to look while the men are just too excited to care.
"Tough break." Rick exclaims.
"Yes, I'm all tears, now let's see who's inside, shall we?" Jonathan asks.
Evy can't believe these guys, Maggie tunes them out as she looks at the coffin. Jonathan inserts the key/box into the coffin's lock. Turns it. The lid cracks open with a hiss. They all react to the foul stench. Then Rick grabs the lid. It's stuck. He pulls with all his might. Jonathan helps him. It starts to give way. Slowly. Slowly. Slowly. And then it suddenly pops open and the most hideous, maggot-infested, rotten corpse imaginable jumps up!
They all scream and jump back. Scared to death. Imhotep is now the 'Elephant Man' of corpses; twisted and deformed. The years have not been kind. He slumps back into his coffin. They all creep forward slowly and carefully look back inside the coffin, creeped-out. As Maggie gets closer she feels bile rise and she darts into a corner and throws up. She feels her hair get pulled back as she throws up more. She stands fully up and wipes her mouth, "Are you okay?" Rick asks her in worry.
She looks to him, "Yeah, I'm okay."
Rick places a hand on the small of her back as they both make their way back to the group, "Death is only the beginning." They hear Evy decipher.
"Where's my gun" Rick asks
"What are you going to do shoot him?" Jonathan questions.
"If he decides to wake up, hell yes!"
