After our argument things changed between Dal and I. It wasn't clear whether it was for the best or worst but things changed. Normally Dally would hardly be seen in public by himself with the twins unless I was with him. Now he liked to take them to go get gas or just pick up Pony and Johnny from school. It would of been nice if Dal had done this on his own but I had to fight for him to do it. Before his first trip with the kids he freaked out. Saying what if someone tries something by going for him and instead hurts the twins. I understood where he was coming from, people often would attack Dally in the past when he was by himself. But it didn't help that I laughed at him instead. I swear he is just nervous and didn't want to admit it.
Nevertheless Dal cursed grabbed the kids telling me they'd be back in an hour. God his temper sometimes just made me laugh.
I was washing dishes when the phoned began to ring. I'll admit I panicked and thought something could of happened to them. To my relief it was just Pony saying he was at the movies but forgot his money at home. I told him he could see it another day, that was a mistake to say the least. Pony told me he couldn't miss it because it was a brand new western film. Being the amazing sister I am, I grabbed my sweater and money before running to the theatre in town. To say the least I still suck at running and was completely out of breathe by the time I got there.
"Here take it..." I handed over some change to Pony breathing heavily.
"I didn't say you had to run over like that but nice hustle." Pony laughed when I simultaneously shot him a glare.
"Ok I'm sorry don't beat the tar outta me." He quickly stated stepping away from me.
"You better enjoy this movie."
"How about you come watch with me? I'll pay." Pony smiled, I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"Go buy the tickets while I see if I can catch anyone to tell them I'm here." I replied walking towards the phone booth. I called DX to see if I could catch Dal there. Steve picked up saying that him and Soda were chatting at the pumps. I told Steve to tell Dal that I'm at the movies with Ponyboy. Steve hung up and I went with my little brother to get seats.

"That was a pretty good movie huh Sara." Pony said as we walked out of the building.
"Yeah it was too bad it didn't star Paul Newman." I admitted lightly a smoke before offering Pony one. Ponyboy chuckled recalling his favourite parts from the new western film called 'The Wild Bunch'. We were having a fun time when a car horn blasted from behind us.
"Unbelievable.." I muttered catching a glimpse of a blue mustang behind us.
"Least it ain't dark out." Pony stated when the mustang pulled along side us.
"Yeah that's the issue. Do you gotta switch?" I asked him holding my hand out.
"This isn't a good idea Sara." He whispered shaking his head as he placed the blade in my palm.
"Out for a stroll here greasers?" One shouted but I ignored him turning to Pony.
"Don't argue non, just when they hop out you run like hell to the house."
"That's so stupid there's like five of them it's smarter for me to stay and help."
"Pony don't use your brain now, besides if we both get jumped who'll get help for us?" I hissed at him right before one grabbed my shoulder.
"Dirty pieces of shit, we are talking to yay."
"Watch it bud." I spat ripping the brown hair Socs hand off my shoulder.
"Hey lookie here, the Curtis baby and the slut who got knocked up." Bob smiled emerging from his little group.
My stomach dropped seeing them as they were the ones who beat me to a pulp last time, well minus Bob. He wasn't there that night but I can imagine what he wants to do to me. I know they still hold the grudge on me for spying on them at the Dingo for Tim. I didn't feed onto Bob and his Socs, I acted cool lighting another weed.
"She's got some nerve hey Bob." The Soc who grabbed my shoulder commented nudging Bob.
"I think we need to remind the Curtis's who runs this side of town," Bob flicked his blade open. "Don't you think so Brad?" Brad and Bob both evilly smiled.
"Try it Princess." I cocked my eyebrow as I moved my hand behind my back so Pony could see it. Simultaneously I slowly exhaled smoke into their faces while I counted down from three on my hand. Once I hit one I took my burning smoke and held it onto Bobs arm. With a squeal he dropped his blade, I smirked triumphantly as Brad and another grabbed my arms. I quickly turned and saw Pony booking it down the side walk.
"Morons! You let the kid run away." Bob barked at his group holding his burn stepping towards me.
"Oh didn't see that coming, my bad thought y'all were some hotshot smarties." I chuckled, Bob didn't think that was funny and slugged me in the gut.
"That's ok, we'll get him another day but you on the other hand never learn. Last time you broke my buddies arm when you pushed him back, never mind all the bones and blood your pals have caused over the last view months." Bob explained, I couldn't deal with him trying to act like he was important. I struggled between the two Socs holding me back when I managed to cause one to slip up just enough so I was able to elbow him in the chest and kick Brad. Just before they all lunged at me I shouted wait.
"I think we could just forget about this whole jumping thing right now." I explained slowly backing up towards the mustang. "Like come on Bob we both know it's exhausting to fight, plus we know it's going to happen again. Besides when I'm through with you boys all your rich faces won't be recognizable."
"Hold on-" Brad began to respond when I pulled out Pony's blade and popped the front tire of the mustang.
Before closing it and grabbing a coke bottle from the Socs car I saw while I was distracting them. Bob and the others all ran towards me. I knew I couldn't run, my legs were already tired out from before so I quickly ran around the back of the mustang. I admit this wasn't a very good plan but I was able to make it onto the pavement. I made it to open space just in time, one tried grabbing my hand with the bottle in it so I swung my fist into his nose. It gushed blood when another attempted to swing at me. However I threw the glass bottle at his head and kneed his stomach. Let's just say I was feeling real proud that I was doing all this by myself when in an instant big arms engulfed me. The Soc pinned my arms to my sides so I couldn't swing, instead I kicked at anything I could reach since they all were sneaking punches. A few landed until one Soc finally managed to grab my feet. I knew I was screwed, there was no way in hell I'd get out.
"Help! He-" I screamed as a last resort when they Socs holding me threw me down onto the hard cement sidewalk. My body slid against the concrete, I screamed in pain.
"Let's see how tough you really are." Brad said before he kicked me.
I choked when Bob forced some alcohol down my throat. The Socs kicked, sliced, and punched while I couldn't even breathe. They were shouting and hollering at me until I heard a car horn. All the violence paused a moment, I got in a few breathes when I heard Bob say 'you here for the slut'. I don't honestly know how I did what I did next but my blood was boiling. I saw some of the boys, they were coming out of the car when I managed to stand up. Bob turned to me in shock, I smirked at him before punching him square in the jaw. That's when the fight broke out but it didn't last very long. Those Socs ran down the street since I popped their tire. I smiled watching them disappear before easing myself onto the curb.
"Where the hell did that come from?" Two joked pretending to sock Pony in the jaw. Johnny looked pale staring at me, I took it as a hint I was bloody. I sip out blood and wiped my lip.
"Jeez Sara, I thought you said you could handle those guys." Pony chuckled coming over to me when I saw Dally. He looked pissed, I knew he was going to yell.
"How stupid are you? You thought you could handle all those guys after last time." Dal hollered stomping over to me kneeling in front of me and grabbed my face. He inspected it gently, I watched his facial expressions.
"Better off than both us getting jumped, let's go." I muttered pulling away as I got up and limped to Twos car. My head fell on to the back of the seat as the boys got in and we drove the few blocks home.
"Wait til Darry gets a load of this." Two chuckled from the drivers seat, I rolled my eyes before rubbing my face.
"Ugh can we just get home." I exhaled closing my eyes just catching my breathe after all of that.
"Why do you smell like booze?" Pony asked, I opened my eyes shooting him a glare.
"Oh you know me and the guys had a few drinks before hand." I sarcastically responded before I stared out the front windshield.
"They forced it down her throat so she couldn't breathe while they beat her." Dally snapped at Pony who immediately fell silent. Once at home I saw Darry's truck pull up right as I was getting out of the car.
"Fuck me.." I mumbled lighting a cigarette, Dally scoffed beside me.
"Jesus what happened to Sara?" Darry came rushing to me.
"She got herself into a fight with Bob, that's what." I narrowed my eyes towards Dally. Darry looked from Dally to me clearly seeing the tension between us.
"I'm not even going to ask but both yay quit it." He snapped at us as he lifted my arm and rotated it.
"Ow." I said dully, knowing Darry knew that would hurt and just did it on purpose.
"Put that out and get to the bathroom as I can tell you need stitches." Darry demanded pointing to the smoke between my lips. I took one long drag before dropping it and smothering it under my foot.
"Don't get snippy with me I didn't do nothin' beside save Pony's ass." I exclaimed stomping up the steps of the house and into the bathroom.
"Don't kid yourself you made him leave cuz it was Bob." Dally shot back pulling out the first aid kit.
"No I didn't! We were far from home, think y'all could've heard us screaming when they beat us both unconscious."
"She's got a point Dallas." Dar defended me placing a wet cloth on my face.
"Yeah Dallas." I smirked liking how Darry was on my side. "Besides Pony's not as tough as I am."
"Not as stupid either." Dally hissed, I lunged towards him stopping right in front of him locking eyes. I didn't know why Dally was getting on my nerves but he was. He's done this type of thing thousands of times for the gang or just because he wanted too. I admit the whole going at him was kinda over the top but I wanted to show I wasn't putting up with his attitude.
"Hey! What the hell has gotten into you two?" Darry questioned us while pulling me away to sit on the toilet seat.
"Nothin'!" We both shouted at him.
"Than act like it...Sara take your t-shirt off." I obeyed painfully pulling my shirt over my head. "Yeah I thought they knicked you a few times by the amount of rips you had on your clothes." Darry explained using another cloth to clean my cuts.
"Shoulda pulled Pony's blade on them." I stated pulling the knife from my back pocket and putting it on the bathroom counter.
"Oh so you had a blade and didn't pull it?" Dally spoke leaning against the door.
"Dallas don't start no more, and neither do you." Darry boomed looking us both in our eyes. "Mind cleaning the cuts with peroxide while I go find some more thread?"
"My pleasure." Dally smiled coming over with the cold cloth of hydrogen peroxide. He didn't even warn me before he placed it on my cuts.
"Ahh shit!" I squealed pushing his hand away from my body. Dally mumbled sorry before proceeding to the others on my arms and sides. Dar returned and had to stitch a few up. One on my shoulder by my armpit, one on my bicep, and had the rest wrapped up.
Darry gave me some of Pony's gym shorts and shirt to change into since mine were all torn and bloody. I looked at my self in the mirror, my whole right side of my body was bandaged up after being shredded by the cement side walk when the Socs threw me. My right arm, leg and hip were tightly wrapped. Other than the few bandages covered by the shirt my injures were mostly just small scratched and bruises which would  inevitably grow.
"Come on we are going someplace." Darry informed me by popping his head into the bathroom. I cursed limping my sore ass out the house where both my brother and boyfriend were on the sidewalk.
"Mind tellin' me why you made someone who just got jumped walk all the way out here?"
"Come on we are going to your place for some privacy." Darry said motioning Dal and I to following him down the sidewalk. I cringed in pain from the uncomfortable way my bruises and cuts were moving as I walked.
"Let me carry you because you are obviously in pain." Dally asked coming closer to me.
"I can handle it." I snapped pushing him away. I don't need his charity, thinks I can't handle myself, that I'm so stupid.
"My god.." He rolled his eyes stuffing his hands into his leather jacket pockets. We didn't even make it into the house when Darry began his little interrogation.
"I am going to ask you both one more time what has gotten into you." Dal and I shared a glance worriedly.
I don't know what Dal was thinking but I could tell he was sharing some of the same concerns. Darry won't understand this whole thing, that Dal and I need to fight to get through to each other. He would freak saying something like this is childish and the kids should not be living with it. Or worst of all he'd scare Dally back into his mute state. I searched in Dally's dark eyes for some sign of what we should do or say to my overprotective brother. Dal gave me a slight nod, honestly I had no clue what he meant by a nod but whatever.
"You cannot, and I mean can not tell anyone else or try to interfere." I shifted my gaze to Darry who had one eyebrow cocked.
"Reason we were bickering so much today was that we are trying to work out the issues we have." Dal explained holding a tough expression on his face.
"We are sorry but that's what we decided to do. I thought we were doing a good job of hiding it but everyday we argue about things so we can work through all the shit in our lives."
"Yeah and I just got pissed that Sara doesn't listen to me and fights like a dog." My mouth drops at Dals comment. I can believe he's trying to start a fight in the middle of this.
"Oh really?!"
"Ok you two, could you not while I am standing right here because I think that's the dumbest thing either of you guys have done." Darry's voices boomed over mine. Dal and I both cursed at him under our breathe.  Dar paused a moment searching our faces for something.
"Is it working?" He abruptly asked.
"I think so." I mumble crossing my arms.
"Slowly though." Dally adds nervously running his hand in his hair.
"Well I can't stop you but I will kick your ass if you pull this type of stunt again in front of everyone." Darry sighed shifting his stance.
"Really?"
"Sadly yes, I know how strong you both are but I've noticed growth. Never seen Dallas out with the kids by himself for just fun. And never could of thought Dallas Winston would be lecturing my sister on getting into a fight. Just god help us that the two of you don't kill each other in the process." I smiled, thank the lord he actually was able to see our perspective on this. Talk about a bullet dodged. Now let's all hope everything will work out like Darry seems optimistic about.
