There was an awkward silence between the two. For Nolan, it was the moment he has waited for years to say. And now he finally said it.
Lou was shocked. No words could come to his mind. He was in utter disbelief.
"Um, is that ok? That I like you?'' Nolan spoke softly.
Lou said nothing. He started at him.
''I'm sorry I upset you. I shouldn't have said that'', Nolan got up from his chair, ''I can go now''.
As he walked away Lou recalled the words Nolan said. I like you. LIKE you. "He likes me?'', Lou asked himself.
He saw Nolan walk away and felt something tug at his heart strings.
''Wait!'', Lou yelled. "Don't go''.
Nolan turned around, ''I don't want to give you a bad reputation. If anybody found out I liked you, you name will be ruined''.
I was true. The leader of the Institute of Perfection cannot have a partner for they are to focus primarily on the Pretties. He was still the leader, although leader of one, he was still in charge therefore, must follow the rules. But he felt something. Something was there.
''It's ok, I'm alone now. Nobody is here. So nobody will ever know.''
Nolan nodded, ''Alright, but are YOU ok with me liking you?''
''If anything I'm flattered, now come, since you are here, it is my duty as the leader to make you welcome, follow me''.
On the outside, Lou took the news very well. Nolan's nerves were settled and he felt much better.
But for Lou, on the inside, his heart was beating out of his chest.
