I rummaged through my closet in a panic. I thought I put it in here. There wasn't much time left. If I had to postpone the occasion for this, I would never forgive myself.
I heard a knock on the door, ''Mr. Lou?''
''Come in!''
My main robot helper entered, ''Sir? 15 minutes.''
I looked at him in a panic, ''15 minutes?! I lose my clothes! I don't know where I put them! I thought maybe there in the basement but there not I can't find-''
''Is this what you're looking for?'' he asked, holding up a black suit.
I took it in relief, ''Thank you sir. I'm just in a panic.''
I began to put on my suit and do last preparations, ''I just want it to be perfect.''
The robot, now brushing my hair, nodded, ''I understand your nervousness. I can read you like a hawk. But please don't worry, everything will be fine. Besides, if something did go wrong, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you and your boyfriend are happy.''
Sighing, I nodded my head, ''You're right.''
I looked at the clock above me, 10 minutes.
The robot clapped, ''ok Mr. Lou, show time!''
........
Time passed slowly. Everything came and went in a slow breeze. It felt warm and welcoming. Like this was meant to happen. It was destiny.
Everyone, Uglies and ex-Pretties, were there. Moxie, Wage, and Wedgehead were all bride maids. Uglydog, Luckybat, and Babo were the men of honour.
Ox, my dearest and best friend, held the service.
He talked of me and his friendship and how it developed into something special over the years. How I have changed into the doll I was meant to be. He said Nolan was always a special one in his eyes and hoped he would find happiness with another doll someday. Both of are differences, qualities, make us one doll.
Ox turned to me, ''Lou, will you say your vows?''
I pulled out a piece of folded paper from my jacket pocket. I was nervous, but calm.
''Nolan.''
He wore a long sleeveless dress, it trailed behind him as he walked to the podium. He sparkled in the evening light and made me shed a tear whenever I laid eyes on him.
''I spent a good while thinking about what to say. What is the perfect vow to say to my perfect soon to be husband? But then I realized, it doesn't matter what I say in this vow, it doesn't change my love for you. For you see, my heart was pulled apart when I was made. I had only one piece, and was missing the other. And when I first saw you, I felt a tug in my heart. As we became closer and closer I felt pieces of my missing piece come together. It is today, that I finally have a whole heart.''
A tear shed from Nolan's face. He sniffled as he pulled out a piece of paper.
''To Lou, my love. As I stand here today I will probably be crying more than I have ever in my life. I swear I didn't have any onion soup yet.''
Laughter from the crowd echoed.
Nolan smiled. ''But it is a good thing. For you see, before I met you, I didn't have much or any emotions. I had nothing to feel. Sure I would feel a moment of happiness when Moxie would tell a joke, or if I sampled one of Wage's famous pies. But that moment passed much too quickly. I longed for happiness to stay. Not to run away. When I met you, I felt a sense of hope; perhaps this could be the start of a friendship and bring joy to me. But it was much more than that. I had no idea how wonderful, talented, creative, and loving you are. And each day I spent with you, a piece of happiness I was missing would arrive and, for the first time, stay. I felt happy being with you. I felt joy, butterflies in my stomach. I love you, Lou. I don't want to be apart from you. You're my missing happiness.''
