After 32 years...
I just Googled my own first name's meaning & origin.
Ili. Like in Lily, minus the L.
I thought it's only Arabic, & it means Gift or something close to that, but it's Hungarian, meaning Light. According to Google lah haha.
My parents never really explained how & from where they really obtained it, but they did mention that my originally intended name was taken earlier by another newborn baby of their mutual friends, so they changed their mind.
If you're an Arab or know Arabic, can I ask you what's my full name's meaning in English?
My real name is Ili Husna binti Yahya.
I remember now that there's a client who I've met briefly when I was working as a sales associate for a Ramadhan bazaar booth in Putrajaya, Malaysia, a few years back. 2014 yeah.
He immediately reacted positively & said that my name's beautiful after he got to know it. But I didn't get to hear his explanation because yeah he was shopping with his family & I was just getting my own light meal for the upcoming iftar/fatoor. If I remember correctly, he's either an Arab language or (Al-Quraan) Iqra teacher.
It made me feel like I exist a little bit, at the time. & somehow appreciated.
That's why, my gentlepeople, ask for people's names when you know you'll be seeing or talking to them often from that point on.
You'll connect, even for the briefest of moments.
You'll know you exist, they exist, & nobody is invisible. Every second of your life, even the ones you couldn't bear.
Communicate.
Engage.
That way, you won't feel trapped by some mental walls that prevent you from living life,
as a human.
Ha. I sound exactly like an aunt or grandma who doesn't bother about/know today's social boundaries. Maybe I can fit in even if I move to & experience some quality village life. Who knows XD
Granny writer who likes to daydream and waste time witnessing everything around her as time & lives go by around her unchanging self.
Anyway, what about your names? It'll be very interesting to know how you obtained your own identity through namesakes :D
Would you share yours with me? (Edit: You don't have to. But if you want to PM me about your name, I'd love to know! Thank you.)
Thank you so much, everyone :)
Gimme a text hug! \(^o^)/
Salam, & have a wish of forever peace from me.
P/S: You can call me Molly or Ili from now on, whichever you fancy XD
