Booming laughter echoed around the group of men playing a friendly game of poker. The air filled of cigar smoke exported from Peru, it made Quinn sick to smell it.
"Darling, do me a favor and fill this up." Quinn took the glass cup handed out to her with a smile before making her way to the back of the room. The door lead into the kitchen of the man's house she currently is working at and it looks of a perfect place to take a break from having to make conversation with others and refilling drinks for whoever asks.
She has an hour left before the party starts to dwindle down and she can try to sneak off without anyone noticing but for now she can hide in the kitchen with her phone.
Digging into her purse for her phone, she scrolled through her missed messages and calls. A dimple creased into her cheek at the sight of David's name.
DAVID:
Hey what are you doing?
QUINN:
Nothing important, what's up?
DAVID:
Have you seen Love Actually? If not do you want to?
QUINN:
I'm down
DAVID:
I'll be on my way soon
So maybe sneaking out can be earlier and money can be delivered sooner than expected.

David's knock could be heard from Quinn's room as she pulled on her jeans and rushed to the door to let him in.
"So I may have lied about why I came over."
Closing the door behind him, she noticed the laptop and charger in hand. "Oh?"
"It's actually one of my posting days but I didn't want to be alone while I edit and you're the first person that came to mind."
Quinn felt the corners of her mouth lift into a small smile as she tucked her hair behind her ears. "Okay. Does that mean we can't watch the movie?"
David is quick to shake is head, "Oh no no. We can still watch as long as you don't mind the noises coming from my laptop."
Quinn mimics his head movement. "Nope. I'll get to see the master at work."
Laughing, David settles into her couch already looking for an outlet for his charger while Quinn sets up Netflix. Quinn is resting on her side of the couch, attention to the screen as the movie played but sneaking glances to David. His mouth pressed into a firm line and forehead crinkled in concentration at his clips of videos.
She knows she lets herself fall asleep somewhere in the middle of the movie but is surprised to David gently shaking her awake. "Sorry. Did you need something?"
David's eyes droop sleepily but he manages an amused smile. "No. I just wanted you to know I'm about to leave."
"You're done?" Quinn checks her phone as David nods. It's seven in the morning. "David, did you stay up the whole night?"
"Yeah. That's what I usually do on my posting days." Quinn is rubbing her eyes to gain more alertness while David gathers his belongings.
"Wait, did you want to stay?" She grimaces at her words and sighs while sitting herself up. "I meant did you want to take a nap here? Before you leave? You look exhausted."
"You and me both." His joke makes them both laugh but his is weak, making him look to the couch in debate.
"You can take the bed. I have to start getting ready for work anyway."
His eyes widen slightly as they light up in hope and shock. "Really?"
"Of course. Come on." She leads him to her room and waves to her bed before moving to her closet and examining her clothes. "You can set your stuff anywhere."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course." She turns to him and sees his questioning look. "I mean if you're not comfortable it's okay you don't have to-"
"No no. I trust you."
Pushing her hair behind her ears, she wonders for a moment if her hair is as messy as she thinks it is. "Okay. Well I'm going to get ready, I'll let you know when I'm leaving."
Quinn ducked out of her room with a set of clothes and went straight to the bathroom to start her morning process. Looking over herself, Quinn mouthes a curse as she realizes she forgot a coverup for her revealing top in her rush to leave the room. A breath of relief leaves her as she peeks into her room to see David snoring softly under the blush colored covers.
Her steps are quiet on her carpet, going to her closet to select a purse and shoes to go with her outfit. Quinn smiles to herself in passing of a mirror before going to his bedside and rearranging his belongings neatly. 'I should buy him a bag for his laptop.'
Plugging his phone into the charger, she pressing her lips together at seeing how late she is. Quinn freezes at his rustling, watching him rearrange before snuggling deeper into her pillows. She smiles at his sleeping form. "Get some rest."

David forgets where he is and groans quietly at the light breaking through the curtains and hitting his eyes every few moments it opens. Then he remembers. All the pink lets him know he's still at Quinn's apartment and that she's still not home after his long nap.
His senses are overwhelmed by her the more David lays in her bed and examines her room. Her smell filling his nose and the colors attacking his sight but he's too comfortable to care. It's the first time he's had a decent nap on the nights he's up till dawn and he's finding it very hard to leave. But he knows he has to.
Gathering his things at a slow pace, he makes his way to the door for his shoes while scrolling through his missed messages.
QUINN:
Help yourself to anything you like!
Biting down on his bottom lip, he looks back to her kitchen in though before shaking his head and mumbling an excuse to himself about running late. Maybe another time.

Okay so I'm really trying to emphasize the whole getting to know someone and becoming their friend
The boundaries and the comfortableness you feel with that person and as I said this is a slow burn book because I feel as though those build more anticipation and it's better in the end
But if I'm doing a good job of that so far let me know!
Anyways! Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think and or vote!
Happy readings!
