Jason's rambling again. Something that his daughter, Charlie and David have, unfortunately, grown used to. The older man's rant consisted of a rude conversation he had, the explanation dragging out for far too long. David knew better than to put in his two cents because he would just make Jason rile up. Sometimes for fun he liked to poke the bear but today David decided to stay quiet and let Jason talk.
The trio were in search of the ice cream shop that Jason had heard of, the warm rays of sun boosting their determination in finding the dessert.
Charlie is the one who spotted it first, sprinting ahead to the pink building. Jason quickened his pace, raising his voice for Charlie to hear. "Slow down! What did I say about staying in my line of sight?"
David followed them in with a grin. He always felt like a part of the family when they went out together like this. It gave him a nice feeling when knowing his family is back home in another state.
Squeals and laughter filled his ears at the entrance of the shop. Kids varying ages were running around in the playground attached to the store while parents watched on from their white tables.
David nodded in appreciation, "Nice pick Jace."
Jason nodded with a proud puff in his chest before getting pulled away by Charlie to stand in line for her choice of ice cream. The brunet told them he was going to find a table for them, an excuse for David to sit after their long walk and the blue booths looked really inviting. Relaying his order with Jason, David went straight for the booths in the back. Note to self: Watch out for others. Lucky for them she had quick reflexes.
Quinn side stepped him, her expression turning from shock to one of pleasant surprise; David's face mirroring her's perfectly. Crossing her arms, her lips quirked up in a smirk before she pointed a finger at his chest. "Should I be worried you might be following me?"
His mouth spread to a wide smile, her appearance more radiating than before. "Me? No, I-" he laughed as his words failed him. "This is the last place I would expect to run into you."
She's watching him with an amused grin; seeing his thumb rub circles into his camera he clutched, something she wasn't surprised to see him holding. Glancing behind him, her eyes lit up in recognition at Jason's figure. "I see you're with your friend again."
David turned his head to see Jason ordering their ice cream, knowing he would be here soon. "Yeah, he wanted to take his daughter out and I decided to come along." His eyes searched behind Quinn, looking to see who she came with. "You here with anyone?"
"I was. I wanted to order something before I left."
He nodded to her vague answer, more questions popping into his head he wanted to ask but didn't. "Did you want to sit with us?"
She seemed to think over his offer, her eyes flickering between him and Jason; making David nervously bite into his lip. "Sure." She gave him a small smile that made a relieved sigh run through him.
Jason ushered Charlie over to the pair, holding two small cups of ice cream. "Hey David- oh, hello."
Quinn gave a small wave to his greeting, "Nice to see you again."
Her voice made Jason's face brighten as he remembered their encounter. "Oh hey! Nice to see you again, you look so different."
A polite laugh left her as she nodded, "Yeah, I get that a lot."
David noticed the bright and inviting look her appearance gave off today, her shoulders more relaxed than their first meeting. It was different.
"Well my name's Jason and this is my daughter, Charlie."
