A famous man once said , " We create our own demons." Who said that, what does it even mean, doesn't matter. I said it because he said it.

Let's track this from the beginning.

1999
Bern, Switzerland.

A girl blows a party pooper at Dad's face as I watch from my small level of height.

It was yet again a New year party where I didn't want to go. Where I shouldn't go. Are children even allowed in this kind of party?

Doesn't matter. I'm Tony Stark's daughter.

Niece, but he adopted me and besides , who cares?

Happy Hogan, my Dad's personal chauffeur, and also one of my uncles, slides over to me and Dad.

"Hey, how much time till the balls drops?"

Dad either didn't listen to what he said, or chose to ignore him. Knowing him and his usual antics, he's probably doing the latter. I just roll my eyes as I went to the elevator, and came out to the terrace , looking at the black sky.

Dad is busy with the new lady, so he wouldn't probably notice me. It's been the craze since the past year anyways. I don't know what has gotten to his head now, usually he's so caring towards me, but somehow, suddenly , he changed.

Started going to more parties, bringing new girls home, ignoring me and Pepper , yada yada. I was used to it now.

But it shocked me when I heard the elevator's sound , signalling that someone was coming up. I looked at the door hopefully, Maybe he remembers me. Maybe he'll come for me.

But he didn't. It was another man, walking with a limp, greasy blonde hair and a crazed look in his eyes which were hidden by glasses. He was limping as he came towards me, but he was jumping, as if he were giddy.

The man came over to me, as I took a step back cautiously. He took out his hand, waving it in front of me frantically, as I gingerly accepted it.

"You are Sofia Stark, aren't ya?" He excitedly asked.

I nodded , saddened a bit that he didn't come to take me home.

"I'm Aldrich Killian. Did you know your father is amazing?! He just said he wants to talk about my idea with me! He'll come in about two minutes more, oh soon my Aim's going to be successful !" He said, as he jumped , which I had no idea how he did , due to the limp he was fashioning.

We both waited at the balcony of the hotel, waiting for my father to come up. Both of us had different reasons, true, but it came down to a simple conclusion.

He didn't come.

I knew it was too good to be true, nowadays he didn't seem so bothered about breaking promises, but looking at the Aldrich's face, I knew he was new to the rejection.

"Happy new year." I timidly said to him, once I saw the fireworks starting and the cheers coming from down the hotel.

He didn't reply for a minute. But then, Aldrich turned to me, tears welling up in his eyes as he gave me a watery smile, "Same to you, bub." Then he turned back around , again looking at the sky in front of us, a new kind of twinkle in his eyes.
