as zelda watched ganondorf get ready for his execution, being chained up, she recounted all of the childhood memories she had with him when they were children. her visiting him in the desert when her mother needed to speak with lady urbosa, or vice versa. they would play in the castle courtyard, or they'd play together with the sand.
"queen zelda, do you have anything you would like to say to ganondorf before?" she heard, making her turn her head away from ganondorf to look at the sage who said it. the sages and the royal family, although close, were no longer as close. there was a wide gap between them now.
"yes, i do." she said, as the sage stepped out of her way and she stepped toward ganondorf. he was done being chained up, as the people who chained him slipped away.
"what do you want to say?" he spat, glaring up at zelda as she kept her face passive.
"you're being executed. do you not feel sorrow for what you did?" she asked softly. he scoffed, turning his face away from hers.
"well, i suppose i only have one thing to say to you." she said, stiffly, looking up at him. the queen leaned up close to him, so only he would know what she said.
"don't try to command the queen when you're considered nothing to the throne."
as she turned and walked away from ganondorf and got far enough away from him, she made the motion to execute. zelda continued to walk, not even looking back at her childhood friend.
