ive been reading this book recently, called the archived by victoria schwab. it's about a what if scenario. what if the dead slept on shelves, like books? it's rlly interesting, you should read it if you're into that kind of book!!

now i will have to put a warning, bc you might not wanna read it if you're younger but. i found the copy i have at my schools library, so take what you will from that. of course, im also in high school.

there will be some spoilers for the story of the book, however. oki, please enjoy!! this is just me putting the story elements into hyrule.

zelda had been working in the archive, as the librarians do, writing names on the lists of the keepers of the area, because histories have escaped. you see, there are 3 ranks to the archive.

keepers are the people who go out and bring the histories back to the archived through the returns doors in the narrows.

the crews are two people, a team, who hunt histories that have escaped through the narrows and into the outer by killing the keeper there.

then there are librarians, the highest. they keep and organize the archive, making sure to keep the histories in there. the histories sleep in the stacks, and the librarians can't make much noise, or they'll wake up.

zelda hummed softly to herself as she wrote a name on midna twilights, a keepers, list. she wasn't supposed to favor any keepers, but she supposed midna was one of her favorites.

the blonde looked up when the archive door opened, and link vert came through. he looked tired. gaunt. zelda probably had looked like that herself, before being promoted to librarian.

"hello, mr. vert. what brings you here?" she asked, softly, looking up at link.

"can i, uh... just hang out in here for a bit? i'm sorry if i'm like, intruding or something. my grandma is driving me crazy." he laughed quietly, well aware of how some of the librarians were. zelda wasn't like that.

zelda smiled, patting the desk in a wordless invitation. she didn't mind, after all, as she was the current head of this branch of the archive. link let out a breath in relief.

he trotted over, slouching down next to where zelda was working. she knew link had cleared his list, so she really didn't mind.

"wanna tell me why you're really here, mr. vert?" she jotted down a name on someone else's list, looking at him. his knee jerked, and he turned his head towards her.

"i, um.. got hurt in the narrows. didn't want anyone to notice or get worried about me." now that zelda was looking at him for a longer amount of time, she noticed how little he was moving. link was almost always moving.

she stood, walking around the desk and grabbing the first aid kit. "where? and how did that even happen?" zelda knew that histories shouldn't have weapons with them. unless they were older, more aggressive. but she hadnt written any down for link.

link grimaced, as zelda told him to show her. he lifted his shirt, showing a few scratches across his stomach. she got to work, cleaning it for him and trying not to touch him with her hand.

after she cleaned it and wrapped it for link, zelda sat back down in her chair and went back to what she was doing before. they sat in the silence together.
