Look At Me Now
Elementary School Year 7
I hugged my mom goodbye as I left the house through the front door, and that was when I saw you waiting at the end of my street for me. Everyday we walked to school together and everyday I liked you a bit more than I should, it feels like you like me sometimes and my friends say you like me also but I'm so uncertain. You treat me like just one of the guys when we are with your friends sometimes even ignore me, but when it's just you and me it feels like more than just a friendship. "Jamie!" You yelled at me pulling my arm forcing me to almost fall backwards, you stand behind me and hold me up as a big transport truck passes by us at a fairly fast pace. My heart beating a mile a minute as you remove your arms from around me and stand me up straight, "geez Jamie are you alright?" You asked and I just look up at you instantly wrapping my arms around you as my heart calms down, you rub circles on my back to help calm me down. Without thinking I look up at you and press my lips to yours, instantly my body gets pushed away from you as you stare at me wide eyed, "Jamie..." You say and instantly I regret my actions, "oh my god I'm so sorry I didn't mean to it's just, you kinda saved my life, and I like you a bit and I felt like you felt the same way..." Words just tumble out of my mouth as you just bite your lip "I'm sorry but I don't like you like that, your just, not my type." and then you left me standing there, you walk the rest of the way to school without me as I just ran. I ran down a nature trail and find a bench and just curl up into a ball and cry, "i'm so stupid! Why would he like me back like that, ugh!" I scream to myself as I throw my bag to the ground and hold my face in my hands.
10 years later
It was a late afternoon at the bakery I now owned, I baked and designed cakes in the back as people came in and out of the front of the store. My cashier having to leave early due to a dentist appointment making me have to put the cakes and decorating on hold. As the end of the day slowly came a long I kept checking the time, I had a man that was supposed to come in and request a cake. While cleaning up the back I hear the bell near the door ring and a man's voice booming through, "Hello?" He yelled and I sighed, "I'm in the back, one second please!" I yelled as I quickly dusted myself off, I head to the front and shake the mans hand before we sat down at one of the tables. "Hi I'm Jamie nice to meet you Mr?" "Cameron Heith." I paused and looked away from the paper and up at the man, familiar brown eyes. "Cameron? It's me Jamie Sousa!" I said and you looked at me confused before a big smile appeared on your face, "wow! Jamie you look amazing!" Instantly a smile broke out onto my face, "Thanks you too! So you wanna order a cake, what's the designs you want" I asked and you sat there for a minute, "I'd rather talk about what I have to do to get a date with you" you said as you winked. "You're not her type bud," My husband Blake came into the bakery and I smiled as he came and stood beside me. "Oh awkward," You said as you stood up, "you know I think I'll go to a different bakery, nice seeing you Jamie." You said and you walked out, I hugged Blake before I cleaned up and we left the bakery and headed home.
