Mad Or Honored?

Linda O'Shea watched as the two twenty year olds duked it out in the back of the school yard. She flinched when the bigger one hit the other one in the eye. She couldn't take it anymore- sure, the one she liked was winning, she just couldn't stand to see him hurt like that.
"Stop it!" Linda squeezed herself between them. "Stop it, both of you!" She turned to the big one, "I like him, and you know it." She referred to the winner. "So get lost before he does some real damage!" She put the winner's arm around her shoulder. "Come on. Let's get you home."

"What happened?" Mary asked as Linda helped Danny sit on the couch. "Joe, get the first aid kit."
"He and Tommy LaRue we're fighting over me," Linda sighed and put her hands on her hips. "I don't know if I should be mad at you for getting into a pointless fight, or if I should be honored that you'd knock someone's head off for me."
"You knocked someone's head off?"
"Not literally." Danny shrugged. "and you should be honored. Not every guy will give a jerk off a bloody nose... think I broke it?"
Linda sighed as she sat on the couch next to Danny, opening the first aid kit.
"What's going on?" Frank wondered as he entered the living room.
"Danny got into a fight." Mary explained, her arms crossed, very angry at her son.
Frank looked at Danny, noticing how beat up he looked. "Did you win?"
"Frank!!"
"Yeah! And I would've whipped his @ss even more if Linda hadn't broken us up."
"What does the other guy look like?" Joe wanted to know.
"Worse. He has a bloody nose, split lips, lacerations and contusions..." Linda rattled off as she cleaned a scrape on Danny's forehead.
"What does that mean?" Jamie wondered, watching Linda fix up his brother.
"It means cuts and bruises."
"Oh. How come you're so smart?"
Linda smiled and blushed, "you're pretty smart, too. What's been your lowest grade, like, ninety-eight?"
"99."
"See?" She closed the first aid kit. "There." She sighed, "I wonder if I'll have to do this a lot."
Danny nodded, "probably."

"You're sure you're okay?" Mary asked for the umpteenth time during dinner.
"Yes, Ma. I'm fine. It's just some contusions and lacerations," Danny smiled as he used the more technical terms. "Jamie gets cuts and contusions, and you don't hover over him."
"That's cause Jamie gets cuts and bruises from climbing trees and falling off his bike," Linda explained. "That's what ten year olds do. They know better, and at twenty, I'd assume you'd  know better too."
"Linda, you didn't see what started the fight."
"What? LaRue wanted to date me? Oh, how scary." She said with sarcastic, mock fear.
"No. He called you a b-b-b." He caught himself from saying a bad word. "A female dog, and said he wanted to give you a roofie!"
"Oh." Linda didn't know that part of it. She didn't know how to feel about that. "Thank you, then." She said quietly.
"You're welcome."
There was a moment of silence before Jamie spoke up, "Mom, What's a roofie?"
