Are Your Horseshoes Still Intact?

"So the god of nobody's business isn't real?"  No matter how many times Faren had to explain it to me, I just wasn't getting it.

Or maybe I did, maybe I enjoyed annoying people.  Hehehehe.  MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA--ok I'll stop now.

Just as Faren was about to explain again, I cut her off.  "OK OK JEEZ!  You know I understood the whole time, right?  Greek or Roman gods, demigods, nectar, and ambrosia, stuff like that."

While I let the words sink in, I stood up and walked away.  I wanted to explore Camp Half-Blood for myself.  As I walked away, I could hear Faren scream.

"GET BACK HERE YOU COWARD!!!"

I had been walking aimlessly now, having no clue where I was.  I was nearing a forest, I think.  Oh good, I like forests for some reason.  It brings me a sense of tranquillity I have never sensed before.  A safe haven, perhaps.

I saw a tuft of light brown hair and immediately became curious.  An Asian girl with dark brown eyes was talking to a flower.  Weirdo.

"I know that you used to be a satyr, now just tell me your identity and I will leave you in peace," she said.

What?  Oh right, whenever satyrs die they reincarnate as a flower or tree, right?  I honestly don't remember.

"Umm..." I said.

"OH HI!"  Now I recognized her.  She was that same demigod that shouted at me earlier this morning.  Something about not knowing Percy and Annabeth.

"You're the new camper, right?  Well, if you aren't, then too bad.  I'm going to introduce myself anyway.  My name is Daria Kim, but call me Dari.  I'm a daughter of Aphrodite," Dari said.  Then she looked at her wrist.  "Oh wow, would you look at the time!  It's time for Capture the Flag!"  She began walking away, and of course, I followed her.  I didn't even know where I was.  But when I looked at her wrist, there was nothing there.

A big group of campers was already there, surrounding Chiron.  A few gave me strange looks.  Chiron clapped his hands in glee and said, "It's another lovely Friday.  Another lovely game of Capture the Flag.  This time, however, I will change up the rules.  The flag is going to be another camper, and the flag will try to evade being captured.  Have fun!"

The campers stared at him incredulously, shock written on their faces.

I was on the blue team, with the Athena, Apollo, Poseidon, and Hermes cabin.  The red team consisted of Hecate, Aries, Demeter, and Hephaestus Cabins.  The other cabins stood around and watched.  I was kind of excited for Capture the Flag, even though I have no experience whatsoever fighting or defending myself.  This blonde girl looked at everyone with calculating eyes until they landed on me.  And guess what?

I became the flag.

Annabeth, I later learned was her name (so that was Annabeth, she seems scary), positioned me on top of a hill with a bright blue blanket draped over my shoulders.  Two campers guarded at the base of the hill.  They didn't even give me armour, just my trusty bow and arrows.  I was bored, so I kicked at a few pebbles.  One of them was too big and it seemed to have words on it.  It was scribbled in ancient Greek, though very messily.

Did you know that kangaroo babies are born about two centimetres long? -A

Who the heck writes these down?  I was too engrossed in the rock to see three red team members walk up to me.

"That was easy," one said.

As I was standing up, my clumsy self decided to trip.  My arms flailed around me, my bow hitting a camper in the face.  The camper that got hit stepped back, and crashed into another red team member, causing both of them to fall down the hill.  I looked at the last person and swung my bow under their feet, knocking them backwards.

I guess clumsy is the best attack.

A shrill whistle blew through the woods, signalling the end of the game.  I saw Annabeth and a guy with raven black hair and sea-green eyes dragging a camper with a red blanket over the river.

Faren walked over to me with a big smile.  "Good job up there on the hill."

I paused.  "Wait, you saw that?"

"Well yeah," she said.  "I was one of the guards.  Annabeth told me to let them go up to you.  Something about saying that you seemed to be uncoordinated."

One camper that was sporting a black eye glared at me as we talked.  Guess I found one of my victims.

It was finally time for dinner.  Everyone was talking about my weird defence strategies and I was very self-conscious.  I saw people standing up with food and I stood up too.  Then Chiron clapped his hands together.

"Ah, sit down everybody.  There will be no need to burn food today!"

He still had that crazed look on his face.
