Ahren's POV
As soon as my friends fell asleep, it was a warning for me. I stood up with alarm and pinched the bridge of my nose. I carefully scanned the surroundings around us. The little kid was far gone by now. I heard some noise behind me and I turned around.
Nothing.
Faren, Dante, Dari, and Morgana lay there, asleep. I walked away, free from the poppy and its sleeping powder. This has to be the work of someone... or a demigod. It must be a child of Hypnos. But why would they do that to us?
Thinking back to the little kid, I looked at the direction where she went off to. Slowly but surely, I reached a bush. There was no one there. I turned around to leave but then the soft sound of someone breathing caught my attention.
I looked around some more and finally found a girl around my age laying there. She kept mumbling under her breath. I frowned. Was this the cause of our problems?
"Hey, you-" Her eyes shot open, revealing a pair of green and brown eyes. Her eyes looked around her, as if searching for someone. The air was knocked out of my lungs as she tackled me.
"Hey!" I brushed her off. "Stop whatever nonsense you are doing to my friends! Oh, do you play some sport? Cause I can name a few that involves tackling..."
"Shut up." I glanced at her features. Dark brown hair, green and brown eyes, wait-
"YOU'RE HER!" I quickly jumped away, the puzzle pieces connecting. She was the one who followed us. "You're coming with me."
Dari's POV
I woke up in a dreamstate. Mist covered most of my vision, a shadow appearing out of no where. A guy walked out of the mist.
"Ok, I'm not really good at this stuff," he said. "But then again, I never had to do this before."
I raised an eyebrow. Who was this kid?
"Who are you?" I asked.
"Here." He shoved what looked like a piece of paper in my hands. Mysterious sighting in London.
The dark figure in the back chilled me to my core. Any demigod would be able to tell what it was based on its height. I thought we were over that. Over those creatures.
"How-" I turned to question the boy, but when I looked, he was gone. "Someone pinch me." I have to show this to the others. The problem was, I'm still asleep.
I closed my eyes and dozed off. A bright light shone down on me as I opened my eyes warily.
What was this place?
"Sweetie?" A figure that I thought I would never see again poked her head through the door. "You're awake! Thank goodness!"
My mouth ran dry. "Grandma?"
Grandma blinked her old eyes. "Well, yes, who else would I be? Are you feeling alright?"
But she's dead...
Faren's POV (We finally get to see what goes on in that head of hers)
My eyes blinked open and I sat up. Ahren headed towards me, dragging a girl behind him. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Found her in that direction." Ahren pointed at some bushes. The same ones where that suspicious little girl went off too. I looked at the girl, examining her. I frowned. She looked familiar. Was it me, or did she look intimidated? It couldn't be by Ahren, so it must be me.
"Did you hire that little girl?" I asked.
"No." The girl's face remained passive, betraying no emotion. I narrowed my eyes at her and sighed.
"Very well, Ahren, you can let her go." He gaped at me, flabbergasted.
"Y-You can't just let her go! She was the one that was following us!" Ahren said.
"Ahren Lockwood. Let her go." I gave him a final glare and he sighed in defeat. He turned around and patted the girl's shoulders.
"You got lucky my sister saved you." Or not.
I watched in amusement as the girl walked away. Once we were out of hearing range, I glanced at Ahren. "Did you do it?"
Ahren quickly turned from a grouchy teen to a kid who looked like they got their presents early. "Of course I did!" He turned his gaze to our sleeping friends.
"We should wake them up," I said, noticing his gaze. Morgana slowly sat up, blinking. She turned her blind gaze to me and smiled eerily.
"What happened?" she asked.
"Nothing," Ahren said quickly.
I reached over and shook Dari. I frowned. I punched her arm. She still wouldn't wake up.
"Five more minutes, mom," a sleepy voice said. Dante waved away Ahren's attempts of waking him up. His bow, Ego, lay beside him and it shook a little. I watched as one of the arrows smacked him on the nose. "Hey!"
"Dari's not waking up," I said. That caught Dante's attention.
"She's not?" I smirked at his worried tone.
"Does it look like she's waking up?" I retorted.
Morgana put her hand over Dari's head, staying still for a while. She turned her grim expression to us.
"Someone's trapping her in her dreamstate."
Romance is brewing.
