The campers all looked at Chiron weirdly, as if he had turned into a satyr. However, when the sky rumbled ominously overhead, they looked wary.
I nudged a nearby camper. "What was that about?"
"Zeus," they said without looking.
I see. Well, I don't technically see the actual Zeus, but you get what I mean. Don't you? As I was thinking, it was time for the camper to nudge me.
"Psst! Our Oracle, Rachel Elizabeth Dare is here. I think you should pay attention!" I glanced up and was immediately creeped out. A girl with red hair was staring at me. Everyone was staring at me. Did I do something wrong?
"YOU!" she shouted.
"YOU?!" I shouted back, even though I had no idea who she was.
"You!"
"You!"
"Y-you're him!"
"Why yes, who else would I be?"
Then she turned and pointed at Faren. "You!"
Faren sighed in annoyance. "Stop looking at me this instant." Rachel pointed at Dari. She was about to say something (probably "You!" again) when Dari cut her off.
"I know I'm good-looking, but the only way you'll ever be with me is in your dreams." Suddenly Rachel's eyes rolled back, exposing the white of her eyes.
"There must be five, Venturing into something,
Not of air or land, A gift of the sea,
For a desperate lady,
Greek and Roman alike, Full of broken ends,
Must make new amends, A sacrifice made,
In order for the quest to end,
Misunderstood, Blessed by death follows,
Unknown tips along the way,
Who ends up helping, To save the day."
Immediately the guy with raven-black hair stood up. He looked impatient. "It's another quest. I'll go."
Chiron shook his head. "I'm afraid not, Perseus. You've had your fair share of quests to last a lifetime. Also, Rachel has pointed at the people needed already."
"I think it must be Dante, Faren, and Dari who will go. After all, our Oracle did point to them."
I'm not sure, but I think I heard Percy mutter, "Finally, someone can take my job. I don't have to save the world, again."
I stared at him. Me? Go on a quest? I can't! I mean, have you ever seen my combat skills? They're horrible!
Luckily, Faren had been there to point out the obvious. "But Dante isn't ready for a quest. He's barely even been here for a day! He isn't trained, yet."
"Then you will train him," Chiron assigned.
"Yes-wait, what?" You could tell she didn't want to do this. It was written all over her face. I was evil, so I smiled mentally at seeing her distraught.
Ok, that was plain mean. But it was in a friendly way. You know what? Nevermind. I shouldn't have said anything. Or done anything.
"You will have one week to train him and prepare him. Camp Jupiter has probably already heard the prophecy the same time we did. The two demigods will be coming here tomorrow," Chiron informed us. "Maybe they can help you train."
Yesterday seemed like a walk in the park. Today was torture.
I tried to dodge as Faren swiped at me. I yelped in pain as the tip of her sword grazed my arm. She smiled at me mockingly.
"You're too slow," she taunted, trying to anger me. "I've heard of cats who fight better." It worked.
Furious of being compared to a cat, I lunged. I actually fought back! That was a first. When I really focused on fighting, I wasn't too bad, I think.
Faren blinked in surprise. "You're actually better than you seem."
"You sure have a lot of faith in your friend," a voice said not far away.
We both turned around and saw this guy with platinum blonde hair and bluish-grey eyes. He had a thin build, but he was carrying that sword like he wasn't afraid of chopping your head off. Ok, maybe not that.
Why is my mind in a jumble today? I can't get anything right.
As soon as Faren spotted him, she froze. "What are you doing here?"
"Now now, is that the way to welcome your twin brother?" the person said.
I just continued to look at him-er, correction-at his sword. Who knows what he is able to do with that? In the distance, I could see Dari holding someone's arm and talking to them. The person was a girl.
"Did you know," the person started. "that the first human organ to be successfully transplanted is the kidney?"
Why does that sound so familiar?
"I'm not helpless, you know." Dari had finally reached the clearing and the girl was frowning. Huffing, Dari let go of the strange girl. The girl cast a strange mist on the ground, sort of like a really thin fog and began walking around uncertainly.
"You're blind," Faren stated.
"Yes," the blind person said. "Yes, I am."
"Not to be rude or anything, but who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Ahren and this is Morgana," Ahren said. "In case you didn't already know, we are here because of the prophecy."
I don't know how to feel with the new prophecy.
