No one slept that night. Barely anyone spoke. They sat there in horror together worried that she would come back or the police wouldn't find her. Noah let Amie cry into his shoulder. The way he held onto her made her feel safe. Jack did the same for Melaini. Even though neither of them had been kidnapped, they were both still horrified after that nights events.
Everyone left Millie's house pretty early the next morning, everyone was still fairly miserable.
"Would you and Noah like to come to ours for today? Just so we have some company, both Amie and i don't exactly want to be too alone." Melaini asked Jack her voice was uneven from lack of sleep.
"Yes, of course. We'd love too and yeah i don't really want to be by myself right now either." Jack replied his voice got quieter and quieter when he talked.
They both turned around to see where Amie and Noah were, Amie was calling a cab, standing near the door and Noah was packing his bags.
"I'll go tell Noah." Jack said, Melaini nodded and he walked over to where Noah was packing his bags. Melaini walked over to Amie, just as she had hung up the phone she said,
"The taxi will be here in about half an hour, they couldn't get one to come here quickly as it is still only 7:30 in the morning."
"Yeah ok that's cool. I asked Jack if him and Noah could hang around at ours today, i just didn't want to be by ourselves." Melaini said looking over to where Jack and Noah were sitting on the floor.
"No that's a good idea." Amie said touching Melaini's shoulder briefly and then said,
"I'm sorry, this is only your second time meeting Jack and all this happened, that must be a lot to take in i'm so sorry." her eyes were watering and she pulled Melaini into a tight hug.
"Amie it's fine," Melaini muffled into Amie's shoulder "i honestly didn't think i'd ever get to meet Jack at all and everyone is ok now." Melaini finished off.
"I'm just sorry that, that happened." Amie said.
"Well it wasn't your fault, and nobody wanted that to happen." Melaini said making sure Amie didn't think it was her fault.
The cab arrived and Amie, Melaini, Noah and Jack all got in and had another long, tired car ride back to Amie's apartment. Amie's apartment was only half an hour away but everyone was so tired and they all sat there watching the seconds on the clock go by and it just made everything feel like hours.
