Chapter 17

"Attention! Assemble at the dinning hall before 6. Anyone who disobeys will be punished according to the regulations." The soldier shouted.

Did he really have to wake us up at 5 in the morning? I have serious insomnia you know?

"Ugh, you two may not know, but every time we gather at the dining hall before 6, its training days. The earlier it is, the worse. I am guessing the Hero will be here today." My 3rd roommate Alex explained.

"Is it that bad?" I asked.

"You'll see."

We made our way to the dining hall, it was in the same state as yesterday night. There were 4 major tables. They were long and made out of wood. They each had a white tablecloth on top. The walls were decorated with paintings, it showcased the previous and current Heroes and Saints. 

"Lail."

"Yes?"

"*Hands him bag* Here are the gold I owe you. Now our debt is paid back."

"Oh." 

Number 42, mid-left table... where is it? Oh! I walked towards my seat and sat down. 

"Hi, my name is Solaris, lets get along?"

The brown-haired guy turned his head toward me.

"It is really you... where were you for the past 2 years? You caused  a commotion because of your sudden disappearance. You.. look different? Your eyes, why are they golden?"

"Carl..." 

I didn't know how to explain. I just looked down at the table and said nothing.

"Fine, if you don't want to tell me, at least tell me why you are here."

"To defeat the Demon King of course. You?" I bitterly said.

"The usual thing."

"You mean?"

He whispered to me in the Language of Demons. "Humans"

"Oh... Carl, you should go back. I don't think you should stay here any longer. They planned for the army to go to the Demon Realm in 3 months."

I didn't want to kill him, but I am still bounded by my oath. I couldn't disobey Uriel. Not to mention I wasn't really a demon in the first place.  

"Sorry, but I have to decline."

"Do you remember the time I helped you?"

"Yes, I am forever grateful to you."

"For your own good, I suggest you stay away from them. Otherwise, don't blame me for what's gonna happen next." I stared coldly at him.

"But-"

"Heed my words: You're gonna regret it."

MESSAGE FROM AUTHOR-SAN:

Now since I got the plot of the story, and at least have 15 chapters, I'll decrease the speed of updating. Cuz me have better things to do *proceeds to gaming* (That isn't why I keep getting bad marks in English and wonderful marks in Japanese haha) . I am  also running out of ideas lol. This is what happens when you have a sudden urge to change the endings of an otome game novels you read. Stuffing different kinds of genre and ending of books all into one is hard, not to mention the very, badly paced story progression. So I guess 1 chapter, 1 day?
